Bonus points for an actual Kirby Krackle effect (albeit making the mistake of drawing attention to the dots, rather than the negative space).

This looks amazing, trailer-wise.
It even surpasses the last GotG2 trailer which I thought was brilliant.

The guys making Marvel Studios trailers definitely deserve a raise!
(And the song choosers too: Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" and Zep's "Immigrant Song" are amazing for this kind of material)

Count me interested.

Some VERY good costume design in this trailer.

First poster, very reminiscent of the poster for the first Thor film:

Last year Marvel gave me Dr.Strange for my birthday. This year they're giving Thor. With a healthy helping of Jack Kirby.

Great trailer. One of my criticisms of DR. STRANGE, which I very much enjoyed overall, was that I didn't feel the film drew directly enough from Ditko's designs. Happy to see that RAGNAROK, on the other hand, appears to be going very heavy with Kirby's influence. Can't wait for the ART OF book for this one!

Agreed, Mr. Jones.  I thought the trailer fun and evocative.  Still on the fence how they meld both RAGNAROK and WORLD WAR HULK together, but so far it looks fun.

not crazy about it, but if that's Skurge with the machine guns (from Simonson's run) I'll give it a look

Andy Park, lead concept artist, confirms the Kirby.

Yeah that's Scurge but I had an opposite reaction.
My Executioner had a double sided axe.

This looks like a blast. I've no idea what the plot will be. It doesn't look as Ragnarok-y as the name suggests, aside from Asgard blowing up. But Asgard has exploded in every movie, I think.

Following Tony Stark's mass armor detonation in Iron Man 3, and Cap giving up his shield in Civil War, Thor will be the third headliner to lose his iconic weapon in his third solo film.

...

I guess I'm way too old school. I had stopped reading comics by the time he was wielding machine guns.

What  happened to the battle axe?

SO MUCH to love about this trailer.
That one shot of Hela makes me wonder if they're going to use aspects of the Twilight Sword story from AVENGERS: PRIME.
Great to see some Walt Simonson magic brought to the big screen!

I'm in.

TOTAL GotG feel to the trailer but I'm ok with that. This looks to be a fun movie. I was hoping for more Ragnarok (Surtur) and less Planet Hulk but perhaps the movie will have the right balance.

Long-black-hair-Cate looks freaking HOT as Hela. I'm very happy she is wearing her crown too.

JB (and everybuddy),

How do you pronounce HELA?  In my lifetime I have heard it pronounced three ways:

HE-LUH

HELL-UH

HEW-LUH

Thanks for any help!

Marc

It would not occur to me to pronounce it other than HELL-UH. Her
name is derived from Hel, which is the origin for the English word "Hell".

Original name of Hela (in Norse) is Hel. Pronounced as Hell.
