So familiar, yet so not at the same time:

LINK.

I mean...it's GEORGE PEREZ! Why not animate in
something resembling HIS style, even if they simply MUST
change costume designs and whatnot? I would have liked
to have seen a straight up adaptation of the
Perez/Wolfman story, but this looks like a pass for me.

Ugh, putting armor on Deathstroke makes even less sense than putting it on Batman.

There was a time when animation was the sole source of enjoyment of the DC characters for me, but WB has apparently been determined to wreck even that.  I've skipped the last five or so animated films, and this will probably join that list.

Yeah, I was hoping for a straight up adaptation as well. I'll pass on this one as I have the last few.

I miss Bruce Timm.

They have an animated continuity since the
release of Justice League: Flashpoint. The
stories from the New52 have IMO better
than the comics. Stories that are Pre52
that have been shoehorned into this
continuity, have been less than stellar.

Their new voice director is good, but he's
not Andrea Romano either.

YouTube wanted me to sign in for one of the trailers as it was not considered appropriate for all ages. Who is this for again?

Didn't they already do Judas Contract on the Teen Titans series? Anyway, this looks bad like most recent animated DC.

Teen Titans did do a version of "The Judas Contract" - but their Terra was MUCH more sympathetic, and I really liked it. Not more than the comic, but perhaps equal to it, as it was different.

DC's current rule of the day is that Cyborg is a Justice Leaguer... so how can they do anything near what was "The New Teen Titans' without their tank? (RPG pun intended...)

Adults who grew up reading comics. Like everything DC does.

I don't quite grasp the allure of doing "adaptations" of actual comic stories. Especially animated versions which are so close to the comic form that I don't really see it making me want to watch it as opposed to reading the original story. Going from comic to animation or animation to comic, I never see anything of substance added. And, this one seems so radically different with the make-up of the team as to be pointless. If you're going to do something like "The Judas Contract" it works better as the finale of a television season. The story is a climax and culmination of the Deathstroke/Terra arc that builds from very early in the Wolfman-Perez series and setting up a shake-up in the status quo. That payoff needs a slow burn to build the tension. I don't see that being done in a single movie.

I prefer if the movies and shows just take the basic, best status quo from the comics and build new stories, maybe add new characters and villains to the mix. Do stories designed to work for the given format and give us something new.

Well, what's considered the best status
quo is kind of the issue. Unless they are
doing a throwback movie like RETURN OF THE
CAPED CRUSADERS, the status quo being used
is their quasi New52 continuity.

Now, they've made some entertaining movies
within that universe. I liked JUSTICE
LEAGUE:THRONE OF ATLANTIS and the trilogy
of Batman films. The JUSTICE LEAGUE VS THE
TEEN TITANS was a veiled way of doing the
TERROR OF TRIGON storyline. In the current
animated continuity, the most recent Blue
Beetle has been the Cyborg replacement.

Being unfamiliar with the current animated DCU, and
Nu52, etc, I'm just going to go with this - as an
adaptation of the classic Wolfman/Perez story line, it
looks like twice warmed over ass.

From a business standpoint I kinda get why WB would use the New52 continuity, but honestly it was more fun when they were experimenting with different styles for they're adaptations. THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS and FLASHPOINT stand out to me. Now it all seems pretty bland.

THE JUDAS CONTRACT would've been ideal to pay proper homage to the Wolfman/Perez series much the way they did with NEW FRONTIER and keeping this story out of continuity. I would've enjoyed seeing Perez's Titans done in animated style....
