Ok, we're 8 days from Spring Training!  This off season sure seemed short to me!

Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to the Cubs defending their World Series Championship this year!  And as much as I would love to see them win back-to-back titles, I suspect it probably won't happen.  It's just incredibly difficult to do so!  But I hope they do win it all again!

Go Tribe!! I know Boston has the loaded pitching staff but I'm still confident my team can put them down.

lol. Funnily enough, I want a Cubs-Red Sox World Series!

Dodgers instead of Cubs would also be acceptable. That's my parents' favorite team.

(Since there's no chance of the Cincinnati Reds being competitive.)

The Tigers window for this core team is closing rapidly,

If they're going to get back to the Series it's going to have to be this year.

Maybe if they can beat the Indians a couple more times instead of going 4-14 against them!!!!!

GO TIGERS!

I hope you already have your tickets Bob!  They're nearly sold out for the Cubs!

I've heard they're considering some rules changes to make games faster.

One is changing it so that if a pitcher wants to issue an intentional walk, he can send a signal or make a motion for the batter to take the base. So no more meaningless 4 throws that waste time. I like that idea...provided there's no one already on base. The pitcher should have to throw pitches to walk if there's already a batter on base.

The other one is so damned stupid I can't believe it would even be considered: Extra innings would start with a runner on second. First of all, its idiotic. Second of all, if a game is won by a runner already on base, then there should be no win or loss for the pitchers on record. And obviously, it shouldn't count toward the losing pitcher's ERA, since the pitcher didn't put the runner there. Third, if they absolutely have to do it, the runner should be on first, not second. Fourth, I'm sure some idiot will suggest adding a Designated Runner position to the game. i'd rather abolish the Designated Hitter, not add another position for someone who only has one skill. (No pure DH should ever be inducted into the Hall of Fame. EVER.)

If anything, to deal with extra innings, the MLB should just adopt what they do (or used to, anyway) in Japan: Call the game a tie after 15 innings.

Baseball has the best "Overtime" of any sport, because each team gets an equal chance! It's what made last year's World Series 100 times better than the Super Bowl!!

By the way, Brandon Phillips finally decides on a trade. Good luck to him!

No clock in Baseball, that's what I love about the game.*

*there are curfews in some cities but the game picks up the next day.

I'd be up for a tie after 11 or 12 innings. Extra
innings would be extra exciting and ties would only
happen a handful of times. Win-win.

I don't like the Brandon Phillips trade at all. The two pitchers the Reds got in return are risky. One is a 29 year old Cuban pitcher who has a whopping 34 innings experience in the minors and a high ERA and losing record back in Cuba. The other was suspended 80 games and fined almost half his salary for PEDs, has had Tommy John surgery twice, and hasn't pitched since 2015 because of the second surgery. On top of that, the Reds are paying most of Phillips' remaining salary.

I know the Reds couldn't have afforded to re-sign Phillps and they need pitching, but I think they could have done better. There should be some contingency in that deal in case the pitcher who had surgery still has issues.

If I weren't an Indians fan, I'd enjoy seeing those Cubs World Series images!

John, I understand.   But you'd do the same if your team won!

I was able to go both Monday and Wednesday...I have to say that there was a
lot of dust getting in my eyes!

Cubs are a class organization...both nights were spectacular events.
