There are people in the Left Wing who demand polarization. So my tendency to land in the middle causes the Left to characterize me as Right.

When it comes to politics, I borrow the name, but not the policies, of a party from my youth in Canada, and call myself a progressive conservative.

Let us go forward -- carefully!

I'm pretty sure that your atheism and your pro-choice, pro-gun control,
pro-gay rights views has the Right labeling you a filthy, Godless
commie.

The whole point of identifying this person is so they can be harassed, shunned, and bullied into submission on social media. Hooray for tolerance!

These days it really sucks having any kind of nuanced political beliefs. Politics has truly become a secular religion for people, even those who decry religion. There are only "us" and "heretics" and too bad if your beliefs are more complicated than that.  Bleah.

But aren't the 'Right' the commies now as Putin supposedly helped get Trump into the White House? Which makes me think - you know the way the Right use the word 'liberal' as an insult, well now my friends on the Left have a word they can use in a similarly dismissive fashion: 'comrade.'

It was Ethan Van Sciver. He was there. It's not a
secret.

Fundamentally, I identify more with Labour in the UK than the Conservatives. However, currently, that party is a mess and its policies can be at times, pretty hard to fathom.

I realise that I actually have views that cross both parties and make my decision based on what that current version of the party are espousing. Some of my views would make Conservatives shake their heads. Some would make Labour shake their heads. I can't quite get how people get to a point where they blindly agree with everything their political party says. But then, we now have a new phrase don't we. It used to be 'economical with the actualities' but now it is 'alternative facts' which has got to be the ultimate end point of 'everyone's opinion matters'

Sorry, just realised I've joined two entirely separate things in that last paragraph but my blood is boiling so much!

Frank Miller supported Hillary Clinton if I'm remembering correctly.

••

A trivial detail like that is hardly likely to encumber internet buzz.

Curious about Frank Miller's option on Trump I googled it and got this depressing quote from him:

"You can't come up with a greater buffoon than Donald Trump. The fact that he thinks he can become president of United States is one of the best jokes I've read in a long time. At least I hope."

Depressing because it takes me back to the ye old days of March 2016 when everyone thought he didn't have a shot at becoming president.

Well, now my thought is... he can't possibly STAY president
for a full term!

Of his politics Frank Miller said in 2014, “All I can say is they are my own and they don’t really fit into any neat category.”
