I am trying to confirm the identity of the artist of this convention sketch from the 1994 Wonder Con (Oakland, CA). My best guess so far is Steve Leialoha. It looks like he did some Samurai work around this time, and I found one image where his sig looks like this, but I am not sure. What do you think? Please let me know. Thank you very much!

Doing a google image search of his signature, I don't see the resemblance at all.

I was thinking more of his early 80's stuff. It reminded me of then.

Yeah, no idea who drew that.... Part of the signature looks like "lurna" or "lorna"...

I got an autograph from Steve Leialoha back in the really early eighties and I remember it being quite legible.

There was only one Leialoha sig I found on line that looked anything like this, but this is not his. I asked him myself, and he said no.
Now I am thinking that is not an L but a copyright circled c.
So who is it?!?

I believe that is "Edward Luena"...
He had an independent comic back during the B&W comics boom of the 1980s called "Crow of the Bear Clan".
The signature looks really close to this:

I KNEW that art looked familiar. I remember reading those comics back in the 80's. Good catch.

You're welcome Ted! Glad to be of help!
I had posted two of Ed's autograph sketches from SDCC 1987 (!) and 2001 in Art Thread a few years ago, but I couldn't use them as examples, because he did his full signature on those...
