Has anyone seen the Doctor Who films with Peter Cushing? And if so, what's your opinion?

I saw both Cushing films. I thought he was great as usual. The films not so great. But it's still Doctor Who so there is something for me to enjoy.

I love the two Cushing movies but I think that love might come from nostalgia more than anything else. When I was a boy in the late '60s/early '70s, the two films used to play quite regularly at the local flea-pit on Saturday mornings (sometimes together or sometimes one would be paired with one of the Thunderbirds movies or the Adam West Batman film). Although the Doctor and the TARDIS were very 'off-model' when compared to the TV version, the very real thrill of seeing Daleks on the big screen - in colour! - is something that has stayed with me ever since. I really don't know how an adult fan of the modern TV version will feel about the films coming to them fresh in the 21st century without the rosy glow of nostalgia attached.

…But it's still Doctor Who…

••

"Doctor Who" being his NAME in the movies, and Susan and Barbara both being his granddaughters, with Ian as Barbara's boyfriend.

sigh

Yup, Those points are exactly why I didn't think it was a great movie. I have no idea why those changes were made. If it were a Hollywood movie. I'd expect it was the typical remake crap. Were the studio feels they need to change the source material.

A few shared data files from the team that did Rogue One, some MoCap gear, and we could bring this version back...

About the only redeeming things in the 'CushWhoniverse' are the more colorful look to the Daleks, and  the use of a 'smoke' effect for extermination scenes(in the first movie, at least; I haven't seen the second).

I guess I might be able to enjoy it as Doctor Who from an alternate reality or by imagining he's not really The Doctor at all but another character, which I sort of did with 1998's "Godzilla."
Thanks for the input.

I've tried to tie it into continuity. The closest I was able to come up with is that he is the meta-crisis Doctor from Pete's world.

The big attraction at the time was seeing `Doctor Who`
in colour. The second film had very prominent `Sugar
Puffs` product placement! Plus,Bernard Cribbins made his
first appearance before `New Who`
As with Andrew,i recall seeing them at the local Flea
Pit on Saturday mornings or during the school holidays
on `5p Wednesday`

I liked to 2 movies, Peter Cushing was a good Doctor, and should be included in the mythos.  I didn't realize he was actually called Doctor Who in the films, but oh well.  The material is for children and the tone was appropriate, and I don't have a problem with the changes made with some of the characters.
