Rest in peace to George Michael.

Way too young.

His version of "I Can't Make You Love Me" is superb.

A re-evaluation of the quality of his Wham! work has long been overdue -- that pseudo-Motown vibe and the quality of the melodies was truly excellent.

53 is a shockingly young age to die. Once again I'm struck by the mysteries of time and age, thinking of George Michael singing at the tribute concert for Freddie Mercury, who died at 45. My mind has a blanket instruction saying that George Michael is a younger guy than Freddie.

Brilliant voice, excellent melodist and I think I will be forever left with a feeling that we were still waiting for a major comeback from this artist. Really shellshocked that he is dead.

George Michael was my favorite male pop star of my youth, from Wham! through his early solo career, although i didn't follow him beyond the mid-90s.  Very sad to read of his far-too-soon passing.

RIP

(Can someone please lock Madonna in a vault until 2016 is over?!)

My older sister was a huge fan when we were teenagers; his posters covered the walls of her room, and the strains of Wham music were basically omnipresent in the house - I would look up from my stacks of Beatles, Doors and Stones albums and was forced to admit to myself that his music was pretty darn infectious.

Who was it that said that when a large figure from our youth passes away, a small part of who we were at that time dies with them...

Too young. RIP.

Tragic, but as with Carrie Fisher i wonder if the hedonistic lifestyle has weakened his heart, way too young.

I'm a huge fan. He was a huge influence and inspiration to
me as a singer. I used to perform a lot of his songs when
I was a kid.

RIP.

This year just keeps on giving. Very, very sad news. 53 is way too young. he should have had a long career left.

Another cultural icon gone in 2016. And according to
this article, the seeming glut of celebrity deaths this
year is definitely not our collective imagination:

WOW!!!  Just fuck with us some more 2016.

Originally wasn't a big fan when he was with WHAM until I heard  "Careless Whisper". Once it crossed over to the R&B charts, it was played on many late night Quiet Storm formats. I believe his decision to go solo was partially due to those events.

The Faith album is one of my all-time favorites.

RIP

An 80's kid, I enjoyed Wham as well as Michael's solo works. Sad to see him pass. Far to young.

Found this fun video on YouTube: A jazz/swing ensemble in Germany performing "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go."

They gave it a full big-band treatment because really, that's what the song already was!
