The Panther is one of my favorites. I missed his debut by a few years, but soon caught up. I regret not having been able to find more use for him when I was on FANTASTIC FOUR.

I don't want to get my expectations up too high, but I love reading the positive reviews. I am pretty darn eager to see this film.

It’s not even out yet, and I’m already hoping for a sequel that includes Queen Divine Justice.

I am very optimistic for "Black Panther", and I'll be there to see it.
I just really hope they don't make him a black Iron Man. Billionaire genius, powered suit with gadgets to make him viable as a character. I have dread about how they're going to show him... but I'll give 'em the benefit of the doubt for now, anyhow.

The movie seems to be drawing heavily from Christopher Priest’s run, where T’Challa was very much a Batman-like gadget user. And from the descriptions of her character, in the movie, Shuri is going to be the Q to Panther’s Bond.

I know it seems to be based on the Christopher Priest run but I really hope Don Mcgregor gets some kudos (and cash)for all of his hard work on the character over the years, Panthers RAGE, Quest and Prey are some of the great panther stories and added so many layers and such a rich history to the character(s)and Wakanda in general!

I would hope they play that awesome angle up, rather than merely make him Iron Man-Lite.

The parallels are striking, right down to both of them seeking vengeance/justice after the deaths of their fathers. Except that Von Doom went one way, and T’Challa the other. And, of course, T’Challa is a king by birthright, whereas Doom became a king by his own hand.

A nice post-credit scene would be showing T'Challa handing Sam Wilson a new-and-improved set of Wakandan designed wings.

The scene I crave would actually come from Infinity War.
Sam Wilson and Rhodey Rhodes stand in Wakanda for the first time....look at each other in amazement....and ask to become citizens.
Because THAT would be real.

Good enough of a review that I know I'll enjoy it when I see it.
If it's at least as good as Priest says it is then I hope it becomes the highest-grossing superhero film ever. Abroad, too.
Then let's see if anyone ever says "Black films don't sell overseas" again.

Some morons are trying to mess with the Rotten Tomatoes score for BLACK PANTHER:
LINK.
I doubt they will have any real effect on the box office, but it sucks that people like this exist.

I had that hope, but INFINITY WAR shows the Falcon in those same old bulky wings.

That doesn't mean anything, Wallace. Marvel has totally changed stuff up from the trailers before.
Nevertheless, they're probably not changing the wings.

BLACK PANTHER now tracking to actually open to $165 million or more this Presidents Day weekend, making it the highest grossing February opener thus far and the 5th-highest opener in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe!

I saw BLACK PANTHER on Monday. Coogler has made a great superhero movie. He does three simple things and he does it well. 1. The Movie has internal logic. Every scene means something to the overall film. No filler. 2. The Movie has some light moments and humor. However, unlike Thor Raganrok or Guardians 2 it is never used at the expense of the dramatic moments of the film. 3. He portrays Black Panther as a pure hero. No feet of clay. No selfishness. He is given a purity that is usually reserved for just Superman and Captain America.
Small criticism. I hate CGI fight scenes. But that seems to be the Hollywood norm.
But this shoots to the top with Superman, Iron Man and a select few really good superhero films.

The hype is in full force with this one. I even saw a Black Panther Lexus commercial. It is almost better to see it sooner than later. I know how you feel JB. The stronger the hype the less inclined I become in seeing something. I've been doing my best to dodge the media blitz but it is nearly impossible with this movie.

Just got back from seeing this and agree with Paul. It is a great superhero film with a compelling self-contained narrative - not Tony Stark cameo's here - that throws up both philosophical and ethical debate about affluent nations role in the world.
The cast have serious acting chops here too the performances and interactions are all the better for that. And I echo the playing down of slapstick is refreshing after Thor:Ragnarok.
And one thing, and I will be cryptic to avoid spoilers before everyone gets the chance to see it, there is a speech towards the end of the play that owes more than a little to the maiden speech made by UK MP Jo Cox to parliament. This speech has become famous, certainly on our shores, because Cox was murdered in 2016, aged just 41, because of her opposition to Brexit and border control among other things. I am sure she was not quoting anyone in her speech and cannot believe the similar rhetoric used in the film is coincidental.
