One of the many things had amazed me about the power of the Trump mystique. He is legendary for not paying workers and trying to get out of contracts. Why would anyone work with him? A small amount of research shows this fact so why do people agree to provide services to his companies? Makes no sense.

$20k per day for Giuliani? $100k for a five day work week? That Four Seasons Total Landscaping presser was worth twice that!

At least, Matt R! Rudy supported a very evil man, but he was worth his weight in gold for all the comic relief he provided. Butt-dials, Four Seasons, Borat baloney-bopping, leaky hair product, farting in public, and mis-dialed phone calls.
That guy actually was once well-respected! Has anyone ever fallen so far, and made themself such a clown as they fell?

I find it sad but (if I'm being honest) a bit comforting to know that the majority of us were right. If you look back on this long, loooong thread, there were some who claimed that Trump wasn't as bad as people were making him out to be. That Trump would "rise to the office" and do what was right for the American people. I, personally, had a long running debate with someone who claimed that all my concerns about Trump were unfounded, that I was really the problem and should just get out of his way.
As laughable as that sounds, that was the GOP up until Jan. 6. And (really) it's still the GOP now no matter how much you believe in their bullshit disingenuous desire for "unity" and "healing".
I never thought this thread would last for a month let alone four years. It has been the catch-all for every abuse, every tirade, every petulant power grab and every embarrassment this president has foisted on the American public. I equally love it for the insight of so many and loath it for it having to exist at all.
At the end of the day, that you all have participated and will continue to participate in the days, weeks and months ahead, is fantastic. As much as we'd like to be done with the shitshow that is Trump, we all know it won't end on January 20. Trump will use his post-presidential status like a cudgel. Which gives even more credence to this thread which calls out a man like Trump "acting presidential".
He brought it on himself. 'Nuff Said.

I cannot believe how many Republican's are calling for removal of rancor, taking the higher ground, while refusing to remove the one individual who acts the exact opposite and causes all of this.
They really do need to recognise that they must move from their current course

I have typically avoided discussing politics in public forums, etc., but it's hard to keep quiet when you have an evil man -- and I do not use the word "evil" lightly when describing anyone -- ruining our country and democracy.

They're impeaching him to stop him from running again. That's what I think. Whether, or not, it will work, remains to be seen.

Impeachment will also strip away the benefits provided to a former president as Phil Kreisel pointed out. It is rather disheartening to hear all the rhetoric regarding impeachment being wrong due to how close his term is to ending. Is there is a point in time where committing a crime is irrelevant to the GOP?
The fact plans are being made for similar insurrections in all 50 states is proof enough that he must be stopped.

So on day 1, DAY 1! Do Biden’s Presidency, some fuckwit Republican is going to file impeachment charges against Biden.
That party has zero interest in actual government. I don’t know what their interest is (money, and power (and not the nice kind), I presume), but it certainly isn’t to govern in a stable manner

N.B. - a successful impeachment and removal will stop his benefits. The XIV Amendment will prevent him from running for public office again.
So they're kinda mutually exclusive....
