As a side note, the accompanying image in that article really calls out the weird homoeroticism regarding Trump I've noticed from his most die-hard supporters.

Jason C. - people have been wondering for centuries whether people are speaking with God, or are just crazy. There's no real way to discern, I think.

Me, I would figure that if God is talking to someone, He might AT LEAST talk to a couple dozen so that at least THEY know they're not crazy; they're all getting the same message.

Then again, if He has a message, I don't know why He didn't release television to us earlier...

& Fox are complaining that California are saying they will need to
independently verify any vaccine released by Trump’s administration.

Sounds common sense to me - Trump doesn’t know his arse from his
elbow when it comes to science.

The irony is, people supporting vaccines are being called vaccine
deniers by people who are ACTUAL vaccine deniers.

Just following through on Pat Robertson's frankly terrifying logic.  It's not so much that he's saying the apocalypse is a good thing (which is plenty scary), it's that one would assume that a biblical literalist like PR would take the number of those ultimately saved to be true.  Which is 144,000.  And that's not 144,000 people who are living TODAY, that's all the worthy people who ever lived.  Out of an estimated 113 billion people if you tally up everyone, ever.  Which, for those who like their numbers in percentages, is 0.0001% OF ALL HUMANITY EVER.

And like Dante, let's assume that righteous pagans who died before the birth of Christ don't go to Heaven.  And let's assume that all the people who missed out on the Christian message for the fifteen-hundred or so years also are left out.  Because it's only accepting Christ as your savior that gets you in there, for Robertson.

So what Robertson is actually asking for in his followers is to vote for the immediate end of life on Earth and the eternal torture of 99.9999% of the rest.  Tout suite.  So let's set aside any thoughts on the egocentric hubris of believing that you are a part of that 0.0001%. What's really terrifying to me is the utter indifference and cruelty towards anyone who you think is outside of your group.

It's not as though this is a surprise, but it's always depressing to think about how these folks really view the world.  It sounds like he's a fan of "The Good Place" - but only the first twelve episodes.

Pat Robertson has no logic. The lord told him Trump is going to win the election. If Trump loses the election, will Robertson admit his lord got it all wrong and is either fallible or doesn't exist? No he will not. He will walk his prediction back by saying he interpreted it wrong or some such guff.
Story as old as the hills. Religious zealot declares the end of days on x. When x comes and passes, the religious zealot acknowledges nothing about getting it wrong and moves on to the next date.

The Bible I read was fairly clear in warning about false prophets and people attempting to name the 'number of days' in predictions.

It seems to be a lot of neo-cons and so-called Christian conservatives are very anti-freedom for many groups of people. The current Pope has at least come around to the fact that there have been same-sex unions for all known history and they aren't going to prayed away nor condemned to some kind of non-practicing limbo for their earthly lives. I'm sure that won't mean a thing to Judge Coney-Barrett though, and if this Pope were to reverse the earlier Papal veto on birth control pills etc. that wouldn't hold any weight for U.S. fanatics either. I don't understand a God who gets involved in this kind of stuff, like we children can't do anything for ourselves? If I point to evidence for Christ the man who is written about as more likely than not to have been married based on what is in the New Testament, that is also illogically heretical; a very common human thing of people marrying and a man and a woman as approved to boot!

The photo of Trump holding a Bible up outside a church he doesn't attend pretty much says it all really.
