Really, really looking forward to it. I thought they nailed him in JESSICA JONES.

Hoping Iron Fist shows up in this one.

I look forward to the series, too. I have enjoyed both DAREDEVIL and JESSICA JONES.

I may not have been a fan of many of the things Joe Quesada did as Editor-In-Chief at Marvel, but I have enjoyed his artwork from the time I first saw it in "The Ray" mini-series back when.

Does anyone know or suspect if I'll need to watch Jessica Jones in order to follow the new series?  Not watching JJ didn't affect my enjoyment of season 2 of Daredevil, but if it's a "must" for Luke Cage, I just may pass on it.

Kevin, you don't really NEED to watch JJ, I wouldn't think, but Cage is in it quite a bit. It doesn't go into his origin or anything but it has some really nice character building.

I don't think JJ is a must watch for Luke Cage.   haven't seen the entire season
of JJ, but I've liked it more than I thought going in.

"POWER MAN AND IRON FIST would have been nice."

---

It would be great if Cage and Iron Fist have their own series for a season or two, and then they merge into one show for their next season, along the lines of what happened in the comics.

At the very least, Marvel would be foolish to not have them at least cross paths at some point during their TV series.

I am also in agreement that I don't think the viewers will have to have watched JESSICA JONES to get into LUKE CAGE. I'm sure there will be references, and Jones may pop up in the series, but I suspect the first episodes will cover Cage's origins.

Just saw where Season 3 of DAREDEVILS is next year. That's 4 tv series and 3 movies from Marvel next year.

Really looking forward to the debut of this show on Friday!

When I saw Alfre Woodard was in the cast, I thought perhaps she was playing the same character she played in CIVIL WAR.  Apparently not.  Is this the first time an actor has played two separate roles in the MCU?

I'm 3 episodes in and it's wonderful.

'Power Man' is a definite possibility.

I think Vinny meant during each of their individual series.

I'm 2 episodes in. Great casting for Cottonmouth (after seeing him in HOUSE OF CARDS I knew that he would make a great bad guy) and Misty (with a clever way of evoking her trademark Afro while giving her a more up-to-date hairstyle). I don't like the race-swapping of Shades - in every scene he's in, he just doesn't look like he belongs there. But that's about my only gripe.

They kinda gave Luke Peter Parker's origin, but it works effectively to give Luke a good reason to come out of hiding.

And even a couple of "Power Man" references! I wasn't expecting that.

Watched the first episode last night. So far, so great!

I was kinda baffled at Shades being white, too.

Very interesting intro for Misty. To my knowledge, she and Cage were never involved. I'm guessing she's not gotten her arm yet.

Loved the "Power Man" call-outs.

It looks like they're going to forego the hero for hire aspect of him.

Excellent episode.

I'm five episodes in and enjoying it very much although, so far, not as much as DAREDEVIL or JESSICA JONES.  Great cast, great visual style, and some really impressive fight scenes going on here.

Many of the reviews, even those that were positive, noted the series gets off to a slow start.  Not sure I agree with "slow", but I am finding it a bit repetitive already.  This has been my one complaint about these Netflix shows: because they use only one plot for all thirteen episodes, a feeling of "stalling" kicks in.  The conflict between Luke and Cottonmouth is already a bit circular.  I wish these shows would toss in a couple self-contained episodes for some variety.
