As convoluted as people think the X-Men books became after JB left, I don't think they've got anything on Alpha Flight. Every time someone tries to explain anything that happened in that book after issue #29, it feels like I walked in halfway through a nuclear physics lecture. In Swedish.

Finally got my copy and it's a lovely book and I don't begrudge the non-Byrne issues as I like completionism. I also like the trade dress matching the Avengers and MU Byrne Omnibuses.

As JB now has five Marvel 'Classic' Omnibuses which are clearly designed as being collections of his work, I think he stands alone. There are lots of Lee/Kirby Omnis but for a singular creator with releases not tied into film releases, I think JB is currently unique.

Does the Fantastic Four Omnibuses and/or Uncanny X-Men Omnibuses count as JB Omnibuses ?

The Fantastic Four Omnibuses are specific to JB, with his name in the titles. The first two Uncanny X-Men Omnibuses are not specific to JB (or anyone else)but his run is split between them. They also include Dave Cockrum's run preceding it (in the first one) and part of Dave Cockrum's run following it (in the second one).

Yeah I was counting the FF x2 Omnis but not the X-Men ones as part of the 'five'.

With all the non-Byrne issues, I don't know why Marvel hasn't included Power Pack #9-10 with Marrina. It's a follow-up to the Marvel Team-Up Annual #7 with Alpha Flight.

That's a good shout. I had completely forgotten about those Power Pack appearances - funny that they didn't include them.

The problem of course with both those appearances and the MTU annual is that they contradicted what was happening in AF. AF #14 is clearly the first time that Puck and Marrina have met since AF #2, although MTU they met in between.

Of course the great thing about JB's run on AF was that it  was pretty much self-contained with so much character development going on right across the team that other books clearly wanted a piece of the (character) action but it was next impossible for them to fit in with AF's chronology.

For anyone who subscribes to Marvel Unlimited, they have just dropped a few issues of Alpha Flight today.

Issues 1 to 19 are now available. Usually when they do this, they drop more issues in subsequent weeks so I imagine that by the end of the month all JB issues will be available.
