Not sure I'm "seeing" Han Solo from this guy. All I recall seeing him in was Hail Caesar and his character seemed almost mentally challenged. Didn't make me think Han Solo.
But, that may just be a credit to his acting ability and he could be the perfect fit.

Based on that single picture, he looks like a young Jack Nicholson.

They certainly worked from the "casting a relative unknown" playbook... HAIL CAESAR is apparently his biggest movie and it grossed all of $30 mill US. The pictures don't do much for me but it's all about what he does on the screen. He's all of 26 years old; better get ready for some big changes, Alden!

I've seen nothing from Anthony Ingruber that would indicate he's a leading man. I'm kinda bothered when people bring him up simply because he looks like Harrison Ford and does a good Han Solo impression n YouTube.

Yeah, one role doesn't really mean anything in terms of an entirely different role and I'm not criticizing the choice at all. But thinking back on watching that movie, I wasn't saying, y'know, now that I think about it, that guy could be a good Han Solo.
Different hair, the right costume...then maybe voila'. But Harrison Ford seems to have what a lot of the old time actors had. They were unique looking and good looking. So many of today's stars are just good looking. Channing Tatum, Chris Pine, Chris Hemsworth...these guys are all handsome but don't have the character that Ford has.
It's going to be tough for anyone to fill those shoes and I have my doubts than anyone can, much less this guy. But from what I've seen of him, he doesn't have the character...the swagger that Ford did. And that's a huge part of what made Han Solo IMO.
Based on photos, Ingruber resembles Ford more than Ehrenreich does but that doesn't mean that he's right either. Something about both of these guys seems more suited for Twilight than the coolest smuggler in the galaxy. Some guys are Richie and some guys are the Fonz.

There's a well-known line used in all the Star Wars films that surely suits this movie.

When I saw the picture of Anthony Ingruber aboce (I have never heard of him or seen him before) my first impression was a young Ted Cruz. Something about the face shape.

As of yet, I'm totally uninterested in a "Young Han Solo" movie. If the previews look good maybe I'll give it a shot but I have no enthusiasm for this, whatsoever.

Anthony Ingruber was very convincing as a young Harrison Ford in "The Age of Adaline." He gets the voice and mannerisms correct. I saw the movie a while ago, but I believe there are clips of his scenes online.
Maybe they're saving him for the new Indiana Jones.

Seriously....Anthony Ingruber does a nice Harrison Ford impression. To say that means he could pull off playing the lead in a feature length film is simply ludicrous! His screen time in Age of Adeline was all of 2 minutes and his performance just screamed "I'm imitating Harrison Ford".
Nothing about this guy indicates that he's a leading man.

My wife and I liked Ehrenreich quite a bit in BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, which *could* have killed his career. Lucky for him he got the part in HAIL CAESAR! :)

Donald Glover just landed the role of Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo filmhttp://www.avclub.com/article/donald-glover-your- new-lando-calrissian-244644I'm not a fan of Community but I've like Glover in every thing else I've seen him in but I just don't see any "Lando" in him. I look forward to being proven wrong, though.

While I still don't think a HAN SOLO Prequel in a necessity, and it could very easily degenerate into fan-wank within its first 5 minutes, I do hope they at least just try to make it a fun romp.
After THE FORCE AWAKENS (featuring Solo's death) and the war-themed ROGUE ONE, I would like nothing more than for this spinoff to be light, breezy and swashbuckling.

Wait! Glover was insisting he should play Spider-Man! So shouldn't Lando be cast as a White guy this time?? Or maybe Asian?I'm so confused.....!

As Lucas had described Lando Calrissian as essentially Clark Gable (as Rhett Butler) in space - handsome, dashing, charismatic - this casting is extremely peculiar, to say the least.
"We need a young Black actor to play the young Lando - I've got it! Who's that actor from COMMUNITY? Yeah! That's it! The kids love him! We'll cast him!"
No disrespect to Glover, who I have enjoyed in most of what I've seen him in, but Billy Dee Williams he is NOT. This appears to be shaping-up to be STAR WARS BABIES.

An actor shouldn't try to clone to performance of another actor to try and do a part. It never turns out well. I like the Glover casting choice. The guy has some amazing range. I look forward to seeing what he brings to the film.

My point was finding an actor who can convincingly convey the character traits for which that character is known, and I am not certain Glover, at least in that sense, is the right actor for the part. Love to be proven wrong, however, so hopefully he can pull it off.
