My god, it's as if Peter Jackson remade the 1976 remake, by way of APOCALYPSE NOW!

Not sure if that should be taken as a glowing recommendation, but my son and I will be there opening weekend, regardless!

Think they made Kong BIG enough?

I guess that's how Kong is supposed to be big enough to fight Godzilla.  Can't say I'm a fan of him being that size, if that poster is meant to be an accurate scale representation.

No question Kong is much larger in this film than usually shown, but I don't think the poster is showing an actual scale representation. The helicopter in the trailer seems to be a lot bigger in comparison.

It's probably a Matchbox helicopter.

He's fighting a giant vampire in the scene, David. ;-)

Definitely closer to Godzilla size in this one.

Who's the heel in a Kong vs Godzilla cage match?

If the Godzilla he fights will be the one from the 2014 film, this bigger Kong is still too small.

To even the sizes, they would need to scale Godzilla back down to his original 1954 size (about half the size of the 2014 version).

I'll admit, they seem to have gotten Kong right. Bipedal, quasi-humanoid ape. Facial features are reminiscent of 1933 Kong. Not "just a gorilla."

But the story, at least from the trailers, makes me think more of King Kong Escapes rather than the original film. I feel better about this film than the Godzilla film, though. I'm actually hoping for a re-re-design of Godzilla for the 2020 matchup.

With the old thread being lockfed I hope it's okay that I started a new one.

In the following link is the Final film credits. At the bottom of the list is an interesting entry. Warning Spoilers ahead if you click on the link.

That's a LONG list of credits, what exactly are we
supposed to be noticing?

"American Humane Association monitored the animal action. No animals were harmed."   Good to know that no giant ape-monsters were mishandled.

I'm thinking, though, that Anthony is referring to this:
INVISO TEXT (Click or highlight to reveal):
"Characters of “Godzilla,” “King Ghidorah,” “Mothra” and “Rodan” created and owned by Toho Co., Ltd."

Yes Thom that's what I was referring to. Though I didn't write it here in case some people didn't want to know :)

I got a kick out of that "No animals were harmed" blurb
too.
The Godzilla stuff doesn't surprise as the whole point
of this movie is to set up a King Kong/Godzilla fight-
movie down the line.

Even if it's just name dropping in the film that's cool. If they show up on screen i'll be in full blown kid mode.

I'll be taking my 6-year old son on the weekend after opening (while my wife takes our daughters to see the new BEAUTY & THE BEAST)...

He might be a tad young, but I've been a fan of almost any & all KING KONG films for about as long as I can remember... I saw the 1976 remake when I was only about 4 1/2, so there's no way I'm gonna miss this one and not take my son.

And he's excited to see it, as a plus!

Dammit.

Would have been nice to know about spoilers BEFORE entering.  I had the option of not clicking the link and in seeing them.....

I don't think there's been any spoilers
yet, has there? We have no idea from the
credit listing if those monsters are in
the film, or just name-dropped.(or not
mentioned at all)

Since those monsters were not introduced
in the recent Godzilla movie, and this
film is very much a King Kong solo film...

It does say spoilers in the thread title. But, yeah, post the link and tell people to click that if they want to know.
