Here's a first look at the behind-the-scenes of the upcoming movie, from MTV:

LINK!

I am a fan of King Kong, but was skeptical when I first heard about the film. What we're being shown so far looks interesting to me, though.

I like some of the people involved so that is a plus.

"There, they encounter a little giant named King Kong."

I hope they don't! The legendary beast was called "Kong." It was Carl Denham who slung that "King" in front of it!

Movie looks a lot like someone has been reading DC's WAR THAT TIME FORGOT.

During the filming of King Kong, the title of the film was only going to be "Kong." No one in the film refers to him as anything but "Kong." David O. Selznick, head of RKO pictures at the time, added the "King" to the title.

The only places Kong is referred to as "King Kong" is on the marquee at his New York debut and in the opening credits.

Sadly, this Skull Island film looks like a "starting over" film, not a remake, a prequel, or anything to do with the original King Kong.

The Comic Con trailer for the upcoming film - Kong looks more like a chimpanzee than a gorilla!

I enjoyed the idea, was interested by the cast, but underwhelmed by the trailer.

It looks exciting, a variation on the Kong drama (variation as in the military visiting). I like the talent involved.

Kong does look like a chimpanzee in one scene, though.

Maybe Kong should be a chimpanzee. Recent decades have shown that chimps, despite their cuddly reputations, are nasty pieces of work whilst gorillas, despite their ferocious reputations, can be gentle. ;)

I definitely prefer that Kong not look like just a giant gorilla. How boring?  I'm not sure where you guys are seeing a chimpanzee in that trailer though.

In my opinion, go to 1:56 (and stay until 1:59) of this official trailer:

The brow/head looks like a chimp!

That's the wrong path, Robbie!! As I've said many a time, Kong is not a giant gorilla. Kong is KONG! Literalizing him diminishes the character.

Willis O'Brien had shown himself more than up to the task of creating realistic creatures, yet for Kong he did not model a silverback, or any othe gorilla he might have seen at a zoo or circus. He modeled something that looked more like a guy in a gorilla suit such as we might have see in any Hollywood movie of the time.

Is it supposed to take place in the Vietnam war era? VIET KONG! Chuck Norris should be in this.

Really looking forward to this one... I think the trailer, at least, looks great, and I hope I can take my son to see it next year.

i am a bit fed up of the "look amazed" acting. Especially when already know that something throws trees (or whatever) at helicopters

In the text accompanying the photo the director says his Kong will owe more to the 1933 Kong. Even goes so far as to describe Jackson's Kong as a giant silverback gorilla. Hmm, he may actually get this.

This new film will hopefully be a giant step up from the 2005 remake... a film I find excruciating to sit through today.

That's a pretty low standard to aim for!  I used to think that movie just needed some judicious editing to take out all the self-indulgent bloat, but on a more recent viewing I found myself thinking there wasn't even a decent movie buried in there.  Other than the theoretical improvement of more dinosaurs, the whole movie stunk.
