Rogue One is now available for digital download and will
be available to buy on Blu-ray and DVD this Tuesday, April
4th.

Everybody has different specials as far as packaging and
some have extra bonus material. Target looks like the one
for me.

No BluRay on Amazon at all. Curious.

Hmmm, I saw one last week. FYI, Target I think is doing a
3D BluRay, not that I'm a fan but that version is supposed
to have a bonus disk with extra special features.

Watched this today. it was okay. The fight at the end was great, but I didn't get into the new characters. And this all seems like a story that didn't need told to me.

Several stores had exclusive versions of the Rogue One Blu Ray.  Best Buy had the steelbook edition, Walmart had a K2S0 die cut cover, Target had a slipcase you could put any of several cover pics in (and a bonus disc).

A) This reminds me of late 1990s comic books
B) Scalpers buy up all the exclusive editions and sell them on Ebay.
C) In the end only the Target edition had more content.

I went to Walmart 2 days after the release and they were sold out of the exclusive version.  Decided on the Best Buy version (which includes 3D Blu ray) sold out at all stores within 250 miles.  Then figured, what the heck, I'll get the Target one.  Also sold out at all Targets within 250 miles.  Went on Ebay and there were sellers with stacks of 5, 10, 20 that they were selling at a markup.  I managed to get the Target version for $5 over retail, which wasn't as painful as it could be, but I think this particular scalper just wasn't very good at it.

I rewatched the movie and didn't hate the score as much as I did in the theater for some reason.  I don't know if they tweaked Tarkin for the Blu ray release, but he looked better.  I really could have lived without Diego Luna.  Just seemed wrong for the role.  Saw Gerrera sequence seemed superfluous.  He's one of those characters that you really need to care about to then be affected by the paranoid and bitter person he's become. He was barely in the cartoon.

Third act was a lot of fun and really the most Star-Warsy part of the whole film.

Anyway, just to sum up, it's probably not worth spending extra to get the exclusive editions.  I was disappointed that they didn't have the cut scenes from the trailer or an audio commentary.

I am wary of any new Star Wars pictures, and I opted to wait to see this one on video.

I was miffed that I couldn't rent it on Amazon Prime streaming, so I opted to rent it from Red Box. Glad I didn't pay much to see it. I found it interesting from a technical standpoint, but the story was just boring to me. Great action sequences, but I didn't really care about anyone in this story.

The only thing I took from this film was thinking why didn't they use the realistic CG character renderings as done for Leia, Vader, and Tarkin in the Clone Wars series? Could these realistic CG characters be a foreshadowing of a 100% CG Star Wars film?

And since we're in spoiler territory, the fact that everyone in this story who wasn't in the original Star Wars dies in this film makes it an exercise in superfluousness in my opinion.

Pete, first, the technology wasn't available and second, while the Clone Wars tv series had an enormous budget for a CGI cartoon, it was in no way enough to have afforded that level of detail.

Remember, that was two characters while the Clone Wars had loads.

Finally saw this and mostly loved it. The biggest complaints are the CGI
characters of Tarkin and Leia, I thought they looked absolutely horrible
and can't believe how they made it into major motion picture, let alone
a Star Wars film.

Vader scene at the end is awesome, like a mini slasher flick. Right
before the original reveals himself there's black smoke or maybe just
shadow growing in the room, it's a nice little detail.

The cast was also superb, Felicity Jones and the Diego Luna are great
leads.
