On a different note... I wonder why the Skrull milk story from JB's run isn't mentioned as much as some of the others. I liked it a lot!

••

Probably because it got written over by the Skrull Kill Crew series a few years later.

The look on Ben's face is some impressively captured emotion.

Ben and Alicia are one of comics great couples.

Seeing this snapshot gave me a genuine heartwarming moment.

Alicia is Ben's girl, so I didn't like it when Johnny and she 'spent some time together'.

What a fun piece! Very nice.

Just out of curiosity, was the notion that Alicia was supposed to be a dead ringer for Sue something that survived the Lee/Kirby era? Were there any references to this after the 60s?

BTW -- two other commissions, one with Captain America, and one with Cap and Wolverine, also got done this week, but Jim Warden stopped by yesterday to pick up some pieces, and I had a visit from Senor Moment and let him take them before they were scanned.

**********

So uh....Jim's gonna get those scanned so we can seem 'em, right....?

I don't recall any reference to that after Alicia's first appearance in FF #8.

Two important elements came and went in that issue. That Alicia looks like Sue (which could be explained as clever application of makeup by the Puppet Master), and that Ben and the Thing have the same voice. Not so easy to explain that one away -- and, in fact, in my own mind I don't. As far as I'm concerned, any time the Thing is given a rough, gravelly voice, it's wrong!

And how much more interesting (and tragic) to present to the audience more of how Ben feels as the man trapped inside the Thing.

Yeah, that was an interesting plot twist, but I felt it was so wrong. Sadly, I don't recall how that played out as it occurred after JB had left the FF. I assume someone hit the "reset button" and Ben and Alicia were back together.

To me, this commission defines how perfect Ben and Alicia are together. Their romance alone could carry a series.

Nothing went as I intended.
