Marvel and DC do have some tremendous supervillains and some very powerful ones. I've often wondered how they'd fare against each other. Here are the battles I'd pay good money to read:
Juggernaut VS Destroyer
Dormammu VS Nightmare
Dormammu VS Mephisto
Mephisto VS Nightmare
Darkseid VS Dormammu
Darkseid VS Nightmare
Galactus VS Dormammu
Those are just some.
I don't know the exact nature/limits of their powers. Out of all of those, I'd really like to see Juggernaut VS Destroyer. I understand Destroyer's armour is near-unstoppable, but Juggernaut also seems able to plough through everything.
As for the others, Dormammu, Nightmare, Darkseid, Mephisto and others have their own strengths and weaknesses (well, not many weaknesses). I would struggle to pick a winner in any of those battles. Out of all of those, would I be correct in thinking Dormammu is the most powerful?
As for Galactus, I'd stake a claim on him being able to beat almost any of those. And, of course, Mr. Byrne gave us Galactus VS Darkseid!
Anyway, about those dream battles above. Who would your winners be? I'd also really appreciate it if you could say why rather than just simply who you think would be the winner.
I'd probably give Destroyer the edge of Juggernaut, only just.
Dormammu is probably more powerful than Nightmare or Mephisto (I could be wrong) so I'd give him the edge in those battles.
Mephisto VS Nightmare is a tough one. Pretty equal in many respects. I'll defer to anyone else on this.
Darkseid VS Dormammu is another tough one. How resistant to magic is Darkseid? I'd probably favour Darkseid over Nightmare.
Galactus VS Dormammu is an interesting one. Dormammu seems to have gone toe-to-toe with some heavy hitters, but I'm not sure how he'd do against Galactus.
Over to you, folks.

Isaac Asimov wrote an interesting essay on the subject of irresistible forces meeting immovable objects -- or NOT meeting, more precisely. He pointed out that, taken literally, an irresistible force precluded the very existence of an immovable object, and vice-versa.But comic readers know that if one slams into the other, one of them gets hurled thru the time barrier!!

Oh god, of course. Put like that...! :)
It has become such an accepted phrase in films, TV, sports, etc. And yet, I guess when one reads that, it does make sense. An example, perhaps, of a phrase lots of us have used but never really questioned or thought of in those terms.

If Dog can do anything, can he create a rock that is too heavy for him to lift?

Did a variation of this thread happen some years ago?
I seem to remember bringing up a scenario where Juggernaut (an irresistible force) met The Blob (an immovable object) and what the result of their clash would be.
Or maybe I just imagined this conversation happening (which, sadly, is not outside the realm of possibility).

Since Juggernaut is magical, while the Blob is "just" a mutant, I imagine the power of the former would cancel that of the latter.

Roy Thomas wrote about the irresistable force hitting the unmovable object in Avengers 67 when Thor strikes Ultron with his hammer. The impact causes the entire floor of Avengers manor to explode outwards, wonderfully illustrated by a young Barry Smith. It is a moment I really wished they had done in the recent movie.

I've always liked such battles/concepts. It's hard to predict a winner at times.
I mean, Juggernaut has forward momentum and magic - so would he really be a pushover against Destroyer?

Not sure of the other outcomes. But I think Juggernaut VS Destroyer would come down to Cyttorak vs. Odin. I know that Dr. Strange calls upon him in some of his spells but I don't really know Cyttorak's power levels. Is he more powerful than Odin?

Speaking of Dr. Strange…
Does anyone here remember that JLAnimated episode where DC's "Defenders" (Aquaman, Dr. Fate and Solomon Grundy) teamed up to save the day? I wonder how they would fair in a fight against the true Defenders Marvel trio of Dr. Strange, the Hulk and Sub-Mariner!
My money is on the home team!

I prefer "my" Superman a little less powerful than that.
