Earl Norem passed away this weekend.  I tend to NOT enjoy the painted work most people produce in comics, especially mainstream superhero type stuff.  Norem was an exception.  In fact, his work was some of my very earliest introduction to superheroes in print.  I had a Spider-Man book for young readers illustrated by Norem before I was old enough to attend school.  Most recently I enjoyed his work on the DINOSAURS ATTACK! comic series which also featured art by the recently departed Herb Trimpe.  It's fun, track it down if you can.  In recent years I've seen lots of art posted on FaceBook by Norem featuring GI JOE and HE-MAN characters.  All stuff I loved as a kid.

 RIP

I didn't know his name until I read of his death yesterday. But I recognize the work and like it.

++++++++

Holy crap! Me, too!

I no longer have the book, but I still remember the theme music and
snippets of dialogue from the read-along audiocassette.

Small world, eh?

From that same line of illustrated childrens books...

Ju-u-ust sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip...

And an issue of the Rampaging Hulk that looms large in my personal, comic-book reading history...
