I have a hockey game in the morning but then my wife (God bless her patience) and I will stop by the LCS to grab some stuff (including back issues at 25% off) and then head to see the Avengers movie. The store usually puts some stuff in my box for my daughter as well.

Don't forget that LCS owners pay for those comics that they give away. I always cringe when I see people come in, demand a full set of books and then walk out.

My store is 1 free, 50 cents for all extras. All money collected is for a local charity!

Yep!  So grab some free comics and be sure to SPEND some money!  Be a good customer!  I'll be hitting up three different shops in my area tomorrow.  Always a fun time.

I've got 3 kids and I've always managed to miss this in the past... not this time!

Going to see AGE OF ULTRON tomorrow at a theatre that just so happens to be right next to a comic shop, so I may stop in to see what's offered. If I find something I like, I'll plunk down a few nickels.  That said? If it wasn't so convenient, I wouldn't go out of my way.  Just the sorry state of the industry at least insofar as how I feel about it.

Stuck at the house with the kids.

That's ok, I got lots of work to do and its beautiful outside today.
Maybe I'll go read a few comics on the deck!

I wish the comic book industry would come up with a better plan for getting comics to people.

Sure, this raises awareness of where the local comic shop is but the fact that the local comic shop has to be ferreted out to get your comics is the problem.

From my point of view, this "event" is just a big hassle.  We get a nice crowd of people all clamoring for their free books and then we'll see them again in about 364 days at the next free comic book day.  The Ben & Jerry's a few doors down does the same promotion(at a different time).

Free ice cream day.  Funny how easily everyone finds that place when the ice cream is free but I really wonder how many of those same people come back and pay $4 for an ice cream any other time.

The hope is that some of these customers will return and start buying regularly but the numbers have got to be pretty low.  5%?

I do give the comic companies credit in that the free books usually have original content nowadays.  Before, it seems like it was all just reprints.

Out of town for a basketball tournament. If I wasn't I'd head to LCS and drop some cash.

Got back from my LCS...

They limited the amount to 10 comics per person, and there was enough for those waiting in line outside 90 minutes after the doors opened. Quite a few families were just doing the "grab and go", but a lot more were buying stuff.

Picked up an Ultraman action figure and Fantastic Four Essentials #9 in addition to the free comics.

I got eight free books from the fine folks Capitol Comics 2. I plan to give
them to students on Monday.
