I wish I was making all this up.  But I'm not...

Give them enough time and the modern crop of writers will ruin anything. Ugh.

"Of course, everyone could have just ignored the WW II reference, the way we do with Reed, Ben, and Alfred Pennyworth, but for whatever reason, Claremont chose to drive straight down the middle of the problem rather than navigate around it."

I remember the comic you are talking about...but that issue was over 20 years ago. Is it still being brought up as canon? Is not not ignored like the others?

When Marvel reboots the movies in 2020 after Infinity War, I nominate Helen Mirren as Black Widow.

According to SFX, there's a rumour that Marvel's Spider-Man won't be Peter Parker. If that is true, all hope is lost for that venture.

^ How many comic book movie rumors have we heard that were later debunked?

Think about it this way. Disney/Marvel did not make a deal with Sony to NOT use Peter Parker in their phase 3 and phase 4 movies. Peter Parker is Spider-Man.

Marvel's official press release for the deal with Sony specifically mentioned Peter Parker, so I have no idea why anybody would believe this rumour at all.

Let Peter Parker sit this one out. He's had to deal with enough crap in the past twenty five years (and longer.)

Spider-Man reboot is not going to be another origin story and will feature a high school-aged Peter Parker. Finally, they are listening to me!

I do, too, Brian. Kevin Fiege's words has me cautiously optimistic:

"...We’ve already designed the costume, which is different than any of the ones that have come before. And yet ours is classic Spidey, as I think you’ll see..."

I hoping "different" but "classic" means it will still look like the Spider-Man we all know and love, but maybe the raised webbing is gone? I wasn't bothered by the webbing, but I am trying to figure how it will be classic if different from Raimi's version, or the last version (which was near-perfect).

Well if Fiege is talking truly classic he may change the color scheme to the original black and red. Or get the spiders on his front and back more to the classic look. I wouldn't think he would put the webbing under the arms but you never know.

The one costume that should have black on it.  Do you think they will?

The webbing under the arms is one of the things I thought of when I read what Fiege said.

The "homemade costume" thing makes me think that this Spidey will get snatched up by SHIELD and become Nick Fury's pet project and get an "awesome" government-designed Spidey suit.

I'll pass. I have a good vision of Spidey in my head and in some great comics, that's all I need.

I really liked the Amazing Spider-Man 2 costume. It was my favorite in the films by far. I liked everything Feige said in this interview, but I definitely wonder where they are taking the new costume.

In Hollywood, remember, English words have different meanings. Tall becomes short. Old becomes young. White becomes Black. Male becomes female. And so often while those working the changes proclaim them to be faithful or "classic."

Ha! Agreed... though I'd love to see a faithful 1960s Steve Ditko costume, "classic" to the current Marvel Studios could just as well mean Todd McFarlane or Mark Bagley designs!

McFarlane and Bagley were drawing the same outfit as Ditko, even sometimes with the underarm webbing. The styles of the artists were different, but not the outfit.

McFarlane enlarged Spider-Man's "eyes" to the point where it was almost a redesign of the mask! I didn't like it at all.

Marvel has a very poor track record with costumes in
their films, I worry more about their designing a
Spider-Man costume, than Sony. Sony got it right in all
of their Spider-Man films, but one.
Outside of Iron Man (though not his iconic/classic
armour) and possibly Thor (same deal though: not his
classic costume), have the Marvel films done a good,
faithful version of any of their Superheros' costumes?

For me, the problem with the MCU costumes is that no matter what character, all the costumes seem to be designed by the same person! (And they probably are, right?)

Deathlok's current, upgraded 'armor' from AOS looks like something an Asgardian could wear (and that simply should not be!).  Daredevil's first red/black suit (made by Melvin Potter in his workshop) has the same aesthetic and design cues as Black Widow's Tony Stark enhanced bodysuit.  Vision's physical details look like they came from the same source!

Hopefully someone will recognize this and order the design department to rectify this.  There are movies and TV shows planned out for the next 5+ years.  There is time to get this right.

If Spider-Man has the same geometric, angular, techie lines that all the MCU characters seem to sport I will be disappointed.  The last Spider-Man movie nearly hit it dead on with that costume.  It didn't look home made, but damn if it didn't look like Spider-Man.  Hopefully someone will be smart enough to not drift too far from that.
