Hi all,

Not having read the Lee/Ditko and Lee/Romita Spidey comics until relatively recently thanks to the gorgeous and insanely heavy omnibus editions, I'm getting mighty impatient for volume 3.

Is there any news on this? I've had a Google and turned up nothing; thought some of you chaps might have an idea, especially those of you who are retailers.

It's a punishingly long wait between books! Is this usual for these things?

I would have thought that with the new Spider-Man film coming out that would have happened!

It's not exactly Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus Vol. 3, but the Spider-Man by Roger Stern Omnibus comes out next week, containing over fifty issues.

Cheers Brandon. I did see that during my search and I was tempted, but I'm enjoying reading the issues in order. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer!

You could keep going with the Masterworks realeases,
William.

I could indeed, and off the back of your post I've had a look at them - the next one is out in August. I do like the beefiness of the omniboo and I'd like to keep going in the same format, but I'll keep the Masterworks in mind for sure. Thanks!

(I guess the Essentials would be a cheaper option but I prefer colour.)

I went the omnibus then Masterworks route with the Fantastic Four after I went to get the second omnibus but it had gone sky high in price. The nice thing is I now have the first 100 odd issues and there is still no third omnibus in sight.

With the Essentials range, it's great to see something that is very close to the original inked work.

I love looking at black and white art, but I like reading comics in colour (if they were originally printed in colour). I do have the first two Punisher Essentials but B&W seems to suit the tone quite well there for the most part.

Thinking more about it, I'll probably go with Masterworks. If a third omnibus comes along I can always sell the Masterworks and buy it.

Yeah, the Essentials are great for admiring the art but I do like the colour reprints, especially for stuff like the FF or Doctor Strange for instance.

I do wish the approach from DC to the Kirby reprints would be adopted though as a standard, so all comics that were printed on the coarser stock back in the day were printed on something similar now.

I like that about the Superman Chronicles. Feels closer to the original reading experience.
