DC Comics writers quit over studio’s refusal to allow Batwoman and her fiancée, Maggie Sawyer, to marry.

If only DC had been as adamantly against marriage when Superman married Lois.

I think that DC, in its current zeal of not having stories impact characters or their concepts, is full of it. They shoehorned Alan Scott into being gay for the sake of shameless promotion — they might as well have had him go through all the books at the time and tell the lead character "Hey, I'm gay, okay?"

Nevermind his long-reluctant acceptance of his actually gay son.

But God forbid there any strong women characters come out with an overly gay direction like marriage, even if it is a natural progression of an already long-established storyline.

Lesbian love scenes sell comics to sweaty 35 year-olds. Gay marriage brings protests. I think that's probably DC's real position on the issue.

Okay, I'll edit slightly: Superheroes having casual sex sells comics to sweaty 35 year-olds. Marriage opens up political issues.

I don't think that's any better position for a comic company to hold, however.

I saw this story last night.  I cannot imagine anyone who is a fan of this book being offended by the proposed story.  If this really happens; if the fan outcry doesn't save Williams and the story, I'm dropping every DC title I collect.

DC has said it is against Marriage not Gay Marriage.

*********************************

I think the edict came down from REAL high up and not DC Comics or its publishers/editorial staff.

And if they're against marriage as they say, why is Aquaman and Mera married?

They've gone as far as giving Lois Lane and Barry Allen other romantic partners than Clark and Iris.

As for Mera, being a favorite of a DC executive has its perks.
