Hi

The general opinion of the nu52 costume redesigns seems to be they are terrible (with which I would agree). Which got me thinking about good costume designs.

Of all of the costume designs you've done over the years, which one are you most proud of and why?

Roy

"Why" is a tough question. "They look good to me" is about as close to an answer as I can get. Sadly deficient, since I expect the worst costumes ever designed "look good" to their designers!

As to WHICH are my favorites, Guardian (which I immodestly think is one of the best in the biz), Northstar & Aurora, and more recently the TRIPLE HELIX crew.

Does Golgotha count as a "costume"?

Sort of along the lines of costume design, I'll always be a fan of JB's talent for taking established designs and making them look better.

I would tend to agree with this one - the little bit of asymmetry of the design gives it a little something extra (hey, as do Northstar and Aurora).

Sure, Golgotha counts - not overly keen on the bare chest myself, but ... still looks good overall. Hard to go wrong with jodphurs.

Thanks!

Absolutely. And he's got one of the greatest names.

Agreed on Guardian's design being one of the best in the biz, too. It's iconic on a Spider-Man/Superman level.

The thing about Guardian's costume that works is not only
is it a gorgeous design, but it doesn't come off as hyper-
patriotic despite being based on the Canadian flag.

That may have something to do with the character of its
original wearer (has to fit into the equation somehow), but
the end result is what matters most.  It's a great costume!

Guardian's costume is so perfect that it would require no special translation to the big screen other than trying to avoid showing seams.

Which means, since movie producers need to put in their two cents, that it will probably never get the big-screen treatment.

Now, if Captain Canuck earns a billion ....

I think it's that at first glance I didn't realize it was the Canadian flag. I just saw it as an abstract design.

Hey! Has any genius come up with the idea of two Guardian/Vindicators at the same time, one in a mirror-image suit to stand next to the first?

To be able to make the flag with the maple leaf with it's sharp lines, translating into a uniform with all the curves and bends, I agree, Guardian is one of the best out there!!! He is also pretty hot looking!!!
