...hm....

Just occurred to me that this pose might not cover what the customer had in mind for "standing heroically".

I guess we'll find out!

I was expecting Medusa from the title!
---

Also expecting Medusa but this really works!
---

And me makes three!

I really like this one. I prefer this costume, but like the version JB put Doc
Samson in during his HULK run as well.

I just noticed that the ink outline around the left arm/elbow is slightly darker than the blacks used on the right leg, giving a sense of depth.  Nice!

A function of the PITT pens used, and not a sign of my artistic genius!

I like the intensity of the piece, Mr. Byrne.

On the subject of Doc Samson, you were always my choice to write and draw a Doc Samson Limited Series. I wish we'd seen one back when you worked on the Hulk.

Great commission!

Although Doc Samson would technically be a minor character in the vast Marvel Universe, he's always seemed bigger than that to me, since my first time seeing him was in one of my very first JB comics and he was throwing THAT PUNCH!

You mean this time! ;-)

John, I personally have found at times when doing my artwork that unplanned design elements (such as the one I mentioned here on this commission) or "mistakes" sometimes enhance my design.  Have you had this happen to you as well?

JB, one thing I could never tell for sure on the comissions is the precise creative limits that could be requested.

For instance, I do have a clear picture in my head of an image that I'd like to ask, when my time to go for one arrives.

Is it cool to have more specific pointers about it?

My discovery of Doc Samson was in the pages of JB's Hulk run.  I was an instant fan, at least of how he was depicted therein.
