Came upon a very detailed fan-created poster on Larry Hama's Facebook page, featuring a multitude of the comic book / animated G.I. Joe characters up to the Mid-1980s:

For a larger image of the poster, or to order a 11 x 17 print from the artist (just paying for printing and shipping only)

Cool!

Now, we just need a matching Cobra poster.

Like it...reminds me a little of the cover to the first GI Joe Yearbook.

If it doesn't have fuzzy hair and a kung-fu grip, it ain't GI Joe!

As a retailer that had went through a LOT of G.I. Joe action figures, I can tell you that is not every Joe is represented on the poster.

Edited: Oops! I missed the part where it says the poster represents the Joes up through the mid-1980's.

I really liked the idea that the Joes were a small group of the best of the best of the best. By the end of the cartoon series it appeared that G.I. Joe was just another branch of the armed forces, not an elite squad.

Correct Matt...

The artist is considering doing another poster (s) covering the later Joes after the Cobra one is finished (check the linked blog for more info).
