With the Artist Edition coming out, I started going thru reading JB's
entire run of FF again. While there's no way to approach the title with
the same genius the Stan and Jack did. After they left, it seemed that
everyone else was just reguritating the same stories without really
adding anything.
Then came JB's run and it was quite amazing.JB's run seems to be
the only one that was able to keep the baby while throwing out the
bathwater. All of the important elements are there, but the stories were
new and exciting. The great part is that after all this time, it still feels
that way. It is SO MUCH FUN to read these books again and again.
Even though I know what's going to happen, I still get caught up in the
story and get very close to the same level of shock I had when first
reading them.
This is my favorite comic book run of all time. Within it is my favorite
single issue (260). Thank you JB for giving me such a fun time reading
some great stories with these characters.

That run was truly special. Some of the best comics I have ever read. Issues 232-265 (and 267) were the standouts for me.
I wish someone at Marvel would find an old unpublished issue in a drawer somewhere... I'd LOVE to read a "new" Byrne FF comic that was written and drawn in 1983.

I started collecting superhero comics mostly because of JB's Superman (1987 was when I started to spend less on Archies and more on the superheroes). It was not until 1990 that I learned that JB had written and drawn the FF. This was definitely a case of my following the creator, rather than the characters, as I really didn't know much about the FF (no cartoon, unlike the Super Friends and Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends). The summer of 1990 stands in my memory as when I devoured the JB FF run. I'd started working at a supermarket and a good bit of my weekly check went to back issues.
Great work and so much FUN.

Great stuff to share as always Mr Greno. You have an amazing collection. And wow, how cool would it be. I can't imagine a book I would rather read than a story lost from that era to make its way here. I love the thought and planning that went into the work and that is something that you just don't see hardly at all anymore.

That is very cool Nathan I have not seen that before or at least I don't think so. Thanks for posting it. JB's run is amazing, and like Stephen I reread it a lot every year along with a lot of JB's other stuff.
