There are so many talented artists that never reached that "superstar" status despite a body of work that is just amazing. For whatever reason though, their work just didn't hit home with the fanboys and the young kids.
Who do YOU think is often overlooked, and deserving of the title Superstar?
I'll start: Lee Weeks.
His work always blows me away. Beautiful character work, simple elegant lines, amazing backgrounds and really solid storytelling skills. His work on Daredevil is some of my favorite work ever on that character.
Team the guy up with Al Williamson, and the results are just breathtaking.

Not quite to the point, but when I was working with Ron Wilson I noticed that he was "bad" in pretty much exactly the same way as another artist, one who WAS a "superstar". And I used to wonder why that other artist had been elevated to the pantheon, and Ron had not.

Al Williamson! Now there's an artist who deserved more recognition than he ever seemed to get. There are very few artists whose work can make me sit and just stare at it in wonder and even bring a tear to my eye with its beauty. Whether it was his EC work or his early 80s Star Wars strip or anything else, I consider him one of the finest artists ever to work in comics. I remember seeing his EC adaptation of Ray Bradbury's "A Sound of Thunder" and being absolutely stunned by the way he drew trees.

I'm going to go with Paul Pelletier as well. Whether it was Outsiders years ago, Negation, McDuffie's FF run, She-Hulk, or the Incredible Hulk(s). I really enjoy his artwork and have always wondered why he doesn't get higher profile work.

Kerry Gammill. I could never get enough of his pencils in the 80's. Had a nice run on Power Man / Iron Fist but never seemed to get a major Marvel title. I could picture him easily on a top team book like FF or Avengers at that time but it never happened.

The Amazing Spider-Man story a few years ago written by Roger Stern with Lee Weeks on art was about as good as Spider-Man has been in years. Almost perfect between the writing and art.

Certainly agree with Weeks. Not sure what is classified as a superstar in this day and age. I remember the Wizard magazine "Hot" artists lists years ago and though I usually liked most of their picks, there were omissions that seemed crazy to me. So today I am not really sure who is considered great or not. For instance, is Steve Epting conisidered a superstar? I think his work is excellent. Also really enjoy Francesco Francavilla. Charlie Adlard's work may be getting greater appreciation due to increased exposure with The Walking Dead, but I have always thought he did a great job as well.
