Definetly! The other day there was this thread of artists that inspired you into drawing and I mentioned JB and George Perez as the first ones and totally forgot Aparo!

Should try to get me some of those B&W Showcase book wih some art of his. Does anyone know if there are any? Outsiders maybe?

There's one volume of his Outsiders, in the Showcase Presents format.

Aparo's work during the '70s (Batman, Spectre, various), when he was doing all of his own pencilling/inking/lettering is my favorite of his. B&B thru roughly #150 (only because that's about when I stopped buying DC) and his work on Detective is the definitive Batman, nothing against Adams.

Years ago saw a bunch of his B&B pages up on his dealer's webpage which were extremely reasonable, even after Aparo's death. Held off getting any, and then one weekend they all disappeared, I assume from some fan going all out either thru the web site or at a convention. Still kicking myself for not buying any when I had the chance.

I have a signed limited edition hardback that collects the first 5 issues
of Prime...have been tempted to pick up the following issues. Where
would you suggest stopping Stephen?

=====
Richard, things started to go wrong with that book starting with
BREAK-THRU. Still it maintain something interesting stories up till
about issue 13.

BTW, that first Brave and the Bold issue I mentioned was 143. we've
mentioned before how certain artists own certain characters just by
the way they draw them. Well, Jim Aparo OWNS the Creeper.

I felt that you had the best of both worlds when Detective had Breyfogle and Batman had Aparo. Breyfogle was flashier but Aparo was solid. I enjoy Norm Breyfogle but I see Jim Aparo's Batman in my head when I picture him.

++++++++++++++++++

Heck, yeah!

The Aparo issues are one reason for me to go back to KNIGHTFALL from time to time.

Stunt though it may have been, it seems appropriate that one of the defining Batman artists should be the one to depict such a famous moment. At least it was a stunt that was drawn well!

Cheers for that Stephen, will pick those up!

Though the art is great, I really do find Bane to be an uninspired villain. Sucks that they had a new character come in and break Batman, when they had such a rich cast of baddies to choose from.

I like his take on the rogues gallery also.

All DC Comics characters, trademarks and images where used are trademark DC Comics, Inc. DC characters are used in accordance with their generous "fair use" policies.

When I got into comics I really dug into Aparo on one Batman title and Breyfogle on the other. While I suppose I've seen 'better' Batman artists since then these two on the back issues I got were sensational!

I often wonder why Aparo was on B&B instead of regularly drawing Batman or Detective back in the 70s.
