Okay, I'm going to go become a plumber now. . .

In that case, I have this leaky faucet...

As long as we are singing hosannahs to the glory that was Alex Toth, consider this:

Look at those feet. The ones that are bearing weight are FLAT and ON THE GROUND. Even tho there is no ground!! Do you know how hard that is??

As much as I loved a lot of Gruenwald's work, Quasar never clicked for me. He made no sense to me as a character and didn't fit into the larger tapestry of the MU. At best, he was a DC character shoehorned into Marvel. At worst, just not a very interesting creation at all.

••

I had not previously thought of Quasar as a displaced DC character, but now that its been said, I retroactively understand Mark's "adoption" of this utterly lame character.>>>>>>>

This was the "Buried Alien" run correct?

Mark's work at Marvel can be summed up largely by three things: bring in as much DC stuff as possible, snakes, and wrestling.

Am I the only who thinks that Bryan Hitch is like the Alan Davis from
Earth-3?

=====
Depends, is Earth-3 the one where the term "deadlines" doesn't exist?
Also isn't that the same Earth that Christopher Nolan came from? You
know, the Earth where every superhero's costume has to be based in
reality and seem completely functional for an extreme sports
enthusiast.

Bryan Hitch's art seems heavily influenced by Alan Davis' work. Hitch has
talent, though I find it difficult to look at anything he's drawn without
thinking about how it would have looked had Davis drawn it.

Bryan Hitch began his career as a shameless Davis disciple.  He eventually found his own "voice" and today his work bears little resemblance to Davis' (who himself borrowed very heavily from Neal Adams).  But then virtually everyone who came out of that generation were influenced by Neal Adams...even, by his own admission, our very own Chief.

I "hear" you Glenn, but still can't help but think of Davis' work when I see
Hitch's. I'm a big fan of Alan Davis' work though, and recognize that likely
colors my perception.

I love Davis' work also, Wallace.  He's one of the few artists whose work I buy sight unseen when I see his name on the cover.  When he's cooking, he has few peers in the industry IMHO.

Hitch's stuff has fallen off for me personally over the years.  I think his high point was on The Authority but by the time he was on FF for Marvel, I actually stopped buying it.  I'm buying America's Got Powers now though...have you checked that out?

I haven't, Glenn. If you recommend it, I'll take a look when I visit Capitol
Comics tomorrow.

Yeah, check it out and Iet me know what you think of it.  I'm on the fence myself but interested enough to give it a chance at least for a couple more issues.
