Looking at that again (unfortunately), I have to wonder why any gay people would look forward to having their lifestyle explored by DC comics? With the above and what they've done to Starfire as examples, it would seem that DC is unable to depict loving, healthy relationships. Far as I know, the last one of those they had was the Dibnys, and we all know how that ended. Does anyone really expect that they'll treat homosexuals with any more dignity?

Ugh! The idea of introducing sexuality of any stripe into Captain Marvel, or whatever they're calling him, just seems oogy on all sorts of levels. He's a little boy who speaks a magic word to become a big man. It's like he would be the poster boy for NAMBLA.
Which means you're probably right.

I'm sure the "rainbow S" was done for the article as an eye grabber...but still...
This would be the comic book version of wrestling's Hulk Hogan "turning bad" back in the day; very "Nooo, not him!"

Just to clarify: If any character should exemplify childhood innocence, it's Captain Marvel. Introducing any romantic angle, straight or gay, just sets up too many icky scenarios. Doe anyone really want to see a story where Captain Marvel is looking adoringly at Billy Batson's age-appropriate paramour? Or, even worse, having Captain Marvel dating someone of his apparent visual age? Ugh!

The degree of ick in the second depends on how married you are to various retcons. As originally portrayed, Cap was NOT "Billy grown up". He was a separate individual.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I hate thinking about superheroes/villains sex lives. I'd rather just read about the action and drama.

Bill, I hope somebody at DC figures that out. I even prefer the action before the drama. The sad part about the last nine months pf DC is, if you write GOOD, FUN stories, you don't have to do stunt advertising.

Do you feel that romantic interests like Lois Lane have no place in a Superman comic?

In light of the image posted a page back, I think there's definitely a difference between two characters flirting and/or dating and seeing Catwoman doing the nasty with Batman.

Ah, I hadn't clicked back to that page and didn't know that was what was being referred to. Yes, I agree that is TMI.

Dear DC,
I don't need my superhero comics to be soft-core porn.
Much thanks.
