JB: Glad you like it, Nathan! Not nearly so many "extra" characters, this time. Your list was pretty comprehensive! But I did add Mr. Chambers, to go with Arcade and Miss Locke, and three extra Sentinels, since they ALWAYS travel in packs!

--------

I really love it! Thank you for adding the extra characters, JB!! I can't stop looking at it..... I wish I didn't have meetings all day!!

Oh -- and something funny of which I was reminded when I checked the issues for reference.

Northstar was my first Gay character, but he was almost beaten out of the gate by Pyro.

Yes, I originally intended that character to be Gay, and drew him very, uhm, flamboyant in his civilian dress. But for some reason (I no longer remember just what it was) I decided not to tell Chris of my intent -- and not knowing the character was meant to be Gay, Chris wrote him as BRITISH.

Hmm.....

JB,

Where did you start on this one? Who was the first character you drew? Who was the last?

Wow. Love these huge group shots. Like the FF one (which I hadn't seen before) even better.

You know those Brits, they're so gayly flamboyant....

••

I started with Xavier's wheelchair, as I knew that would establish my perspective grid. Working a little bit backwards there, as normally the grid would go down first, but I wanted the large visible wheel to be absolutely spot on, perspective-wise (knowing if it was not, it would ruin the whole piece for me), so I selected the appropriate elliptical template and worked outwards from there. Once the chair was done, I added Xavier, then Scott, then Phoenix, then. . . the rest!

The last character added was the smallest of the Sentinels.

Interesting you say that, JB... Xavier's wheelchair is one of my favorite parts of the drawing!

I just got an email from a friend of mine who saw this piece-- he wrote, "The only character missing from the drawing is Popeye"

...I thought that was funny :)

Mmmmm....... You know it was Terry who added those Popeyes, right? Also a couple of Phantom Strangers.

I prefer the in-jokes to be more. . .   IN!

Being envious of Nathan Greno is now a full-time occupation.
