Brian Floyd, I believe I saw recently that the Veronica Mars movie is coming to HBO on November 1st, if thats an option for you.  I just finished my own rewatch of the series and had to rent the movie for $2.99 on Amazon.

Brett, we ended up just saying screw it and paid to rent it.

Spent all of yesterday watching season 4, and I absolutely hated the ending. It was almost a `f you' to the fans.

Yeah, that fourth season was something different.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
What also irked me was the opening theme. Chrissie Hynde is a very radical difference from The Dandy Warhols! (The third season remix is my favorite version.)

Do NOT want to see more, the way it ended. Unless `more' means pulling a `DALLAS'.

I didn't care for the movie and that fourth season of VM is utter shit. I want the
Veronica Mars of the tv show not the completely damaged and broken the
Netflix Jessica Jones character she became.

I discovered Get Shorty on Prime which I didn't even know was a tv show. A
fun watch so far not anything I would call must see tv... a long forgotten tv
show called Action! w Jay Mohr did it better but that show isn't available
anywhere.

Also watched some of the new version of Duck Tales on Disney Plus
surprisingly I really enjoyed what I saw. I grew up on the original and had no
interest in the reboot when it premiered. The Darkwing Duck episode of the
new Duck Tales is on youtube which got me curious next thing you know I'm 6
episodes in.

Its rather charming and heartwarming the only knock is I keep hearing the
good Doctor's voice instead of Uncle Scrooge played by David Tennant.

John, I don't really think that the entire season 4 of VERONICA MARS was *that* bad. But the final episode definitely is complete and utter shit. *edited to add* JK Simmons being in it may be one of the reasons I didn't hate the season, but it could have done without the language and gore.

The wife and I watched QUEEN'S GAMBIT on Netflix, over 2 days. It was pretty good, but will be a bit boring if you don't care at all about chess.

We're currently on BROADCHURCH, season one. Featuring The Doctor, The Doctor, The Doctor....and Rory. Currently on episode 4, and I have no clue who the murderer is, which is a good thing. I hate it when I watch a mystery series (or movie) and know who the bad guy is before the halfway point.

I stuck to TV shows for Halloween - I surfed onto FX's marathon of "Treehouse
of Horror" episodes of THE SIMPSONS. I have not been following them over
the years, and I got caught up on all of the recent ones, which were fantastic.

Then some episodes of BEWITCHED - I pulled season three off the shelf, which
was the first season in color. I played the first few and then skipped to one
purely based on the title - "The Short, Happy Circuit of Aunt Clara." I
absolutely love Marion Lorne as Aunt Clara - her delivery is just so wonderfully
befuddled. This episode in particular is strong - the sequence in which Aunt
Clara tries to move a piano upstairs using her magic was hilarious to me -
probably my favorite piano moving scene since Laurel and Hardy's THE MUSIC
BOX. And then as a follow-up she proceeds to knock out power to the entire
eastern seaboard.

So many elements came together to make BEWITCHED one of my favorite
shows, but I really noticed how the editing makes the show. Of course, it is
well known for using editing as a primary tool at the time for showing magic,
but the editing also gives us gags with such great comic timing.

Then I watched SNL, which had its strongest episode this season with the
wonderful John Mulaney

It wasn't all laughs - I did hear one genuinely scary story while driving in
between houses. It was on the wonderful podcast/radio show SNAP
JUDGEMENT, which does some terrifying Halloween shows.

I keep thinking I should revisit BEWITCHED, a favorite in my early teens, but I fear I would be overwhelmed by the laugh track.

The laugh track is indeed on BEWITCHED - if that is a deal breaker it may be a
problem if you revisit it. This show is such a favorite for me that I don't even
notice it anymore.

It's worth noting that you do have a one episode opportunity to experience the
show without a laugh track. There's a technical error on the DVD for the
season three episode "Our Friend Ben" - the laugh track was accidentally left
off both the Sony and Mill Creek releases. It's the only time I've seen the show
without a laugh track. It really accentuates the comic timing and shows off
Elizabeth Montgomery's talent - she carries the show not just when the
spotlight is on her, but she really knows how to bounce off a very talented
ensemble. The downside - that episode is part one of a two parter, so you
would have the laugh track on the resolution.

I think the best feature of the MASH DVDs is that they have the option to turn
off the laugh track. Watching the show without a laugh track was like watching
it in a whole new way - especially those first four seasons when Larry Gelbart
was running the show. The show's timing was so precise that I can see why
the laugh track was such a bone of contention between Gelbart and Fox.
