McMILLIONS - HBO doc series about the FBI investigating a group that was
scamming McDonald's Monopoly game for years. I'm two episodes in to the
three released so far, and it's as addictive as McDonald's french fries - without
all the calories!

Recommended so far!

I've heard nothing but good things about it. I'm waiting for all the
episodes to air, then I'm gonna binge them.

I'm enjoying a rewatch of television's "Voyagers!" from the days of yore. I found the collection unopened at a local second-hand store and have been generally impressed by the bits of reality and character that are still able to make their way through the program's "kid-friendly" veneer.

So far, everything about the show is better than I remembered.

YEAR of the RABBIT (Pilot)

Bawdy with slapstick. Involuntary laughter ensued.
This looks like my weekly fix to let my brain relax and enjoy.

A couple of episodes of DEPARTMENT S (not H). A favorite in my youth, it ages less and less well.

Definitely not THE AVENGERS!

I've never been able to find the Department S DVD set at a cheap enough price, and so it's still one of those major British 'cult' shows I've never seen. I do have the Strange Report and Doom Watch sets and enjoy them. My BF has all the pre-Rigg/Peel Avengers that exist, The Prisoner, UFO, and half of the original Randall & Hopkirk run. Usually between us we have most things covered, but Department S is a notable omission. I'm glad to hear things about it not being that great! :^D

I just tried to watch the first episode of Avenue 5. I bailed halfway because I figured out why this doesn't work... at ... all. They are all the same sardonic/sarcastic character! It's Peter David dialogue for every single caricature and you don't care about a single one of them, witty asides and all. Ha ha. Looks great, maybe with the sound off... or in French?

Oh, the other thing I thought was how much Hugh Laurie as an American sounds like Tom Selleck as Magnum P.I. Perhaps they'd like to add this witticism to a script... the possibility that they would is pretty much what's wrong right there.

Next!

I watched the first episode of Avenue 5, the "humour"
and characters didn`t click with me. It`s dreadful. I
wonder if it got made on the strength of Ianucci being
involved?

I didn't give AVENUE 5 so much as a glance this week.

I see WESTWORLD is returning next month, so I'll have something else to be annoyed by.

I started watching DEADWOOD on HBO. I'm halfway through the first season and am very much entertained.

I've given up on AVENUE 5. It's like a super decompressed comic book to me.

I checked out the first two episodes of GOOD GIRLS Season 1 (on Netflix) and I'm liking it so far.
