I was using cinema, as moving pictures, not a place where you go to watch moving pictures.

Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers, guys - getting the name and media wrong
was too irresistible :-)

You are on to something though, Steve - "Appointment at Far Point" sounds
like a visit to the dentist, which is about the level of excitement that the TNG
pilot generates! And I'm a TNG fan.

I know I watched TNG when it debuted, it was just exciting to see a new Star Trek series, meet all the new characters... if it wasn't much better than a good Buck Rodgers it was still better than a lot else on. I do remember thinking the acting or characters were rather wooden (I wasn't sure which then, now I'd say the characters mostly) compared to the original. In some ways it was a bit like the original pilot with Captain Pike, a lot of 'all about business' crew members, only it was Spock that showed emotion in that version!

We had to wait 2 years for TNG to be on tv on BBC2! We
could rent Encounter At Farpoint from the video shop,
but after seeing it, i wasn`t impressed! It was only a
fair few years later, when SKY tv showed it daily at
teatime that i got into it!

I love TNG to this day and there is nothing better than
watching a few episodes in a row - I have some episodes
practically memorized, and yet I will still watch.

But only starting with season 3, when I jumped on board.
When I see a season 1 or 2 episode, it doesn`t even feel
like the same show. It looks like a high school play of a
TNG episode- especially with a beardless Riker!

Yes Tim, the first two seasons are a chore, luckily the
Monday to Friday showings in the UK soon got to season 3
and beyond!

BACK TO LIFE (2019)

British dark comedy starring and created by Daisy Haggard. A woman returns home after 18 years in prison for a not quite specified crime (maybe murder?) that seems to have left the whole town hating her. (”Psycho bitch” is spray painted on the wall in front of her parents home, where she is staying.)

Ms Haggard is quite winning, and the rest of the cast solid. One tiny red flag: they seem to be playing the lead as if her incarceration cut her off completely, leaving her unaware of changes in the outside world.

I’ll be back for more.

Decent series, BACK TO LIFE. Worth the short, six episodes, definitely. Plays more like a movie, extended. Not every character arc ultimately convincing, but that's just a tiny gripe.

BACK TO LIFE held my attention, tho I felt a bit underwhelmed, ultimately. No real urge to watch it again.

Reading behind the scenes discovered the actress who plays the mother shares my birthday, date and year.

(Search is broken, so if I posted this elsewhere, I apologize).

Just picked up the blu-ray of The Stand (1994) and watched it.  It was shot on film, so they were able to scan it in HD.  (It's still 4:3, however, as aired).

I'm interested in seeing the upcoming remake, but I do think this is one of the best Stephen King adaptations.  One of the few that managed to find that peculiar King-ish balance between horror, humor, and humanity.

Finished both seasons of AGENT CARTER. Practically as enjoyable as the first time I watched it.
I liked the first season story line a bit more. The second season ended the story line but started a new one that would never be.

Finished S2 of PARTY DOWN. Remains hilarious, and very keenly observed.
