Starting the first season of F TROOP.

Was surprised to learn Melody Patterson "Wrangler Jane", was only 16 when season 1 opened up.

So were the show runners! You'll notice a decline in physical activity between Wrangler and Wilton about halfway in, after they found out!

Saw the Finding Your Roots PBS show last night with Mia Farrow, Anjelica Huston and Isabella Rossellini. Interesting about Mia's paternal grandfather and grandmother in Australia... Her father's mother (who sure looked like her) was suffering from something like post-partum depression and was assigned the "rest cure", for a couple of years but then died from pneumonia in the hospital. They thought confinement to bed with no stimulation or visitors was a cure-all for women back then, I'm sure her husband was sold a line of goods about it. There was even a famous work titled The Yellow Wallpaper from a woman who survived (somewhat) the rest cure but went a bit mad looking at the wallpaper. they also thought fresh air, even very cold air, was another restorative. Aside from that Mia Farrow found a lot of ancestry in England on both sides.

More PYTHON. Watching them in random order, as I am, it's interesting to note that the fondly remembered sketches are spread out over the length of the series, not clumped, as one might expect, at one end or the other.

QUATERMASS AND THE PIT (1959)

The original BBC serial, which Ive found myself watching at least once a year since it became available on video. Bold and brilliant, especially for the time. Some of the subtext is particularly pertinent today.

One of the direct ancestors of DOCTOR WHO.

I've read such great things about the original TV Quatermass... I've been meaning to get what's available having loved the Hammer films. I did get the sets for BBC's A For Andromeda and Adam Adamant Lives (the latter produced by Verity Lambert), and the two underwater series that followed the Pathfinders ones which network put out. Sydney Newman was involved in Pathfinders leading up to Doctor Who, but it was the massive success of Quatermass that paved the way for all of them I think.

A brief page on Pathfinders/Target Luna:

 THE ROCKFORD FILES (S1)

Garner's just so good!
I always seem to forget Beery doesn't play "Rocky" in the first episode.

Re-watching seasons 4 and 5 of THE WEST WING via Netflix.

Sort of a milestone for the show's run as writer/producer Aaron Sorkin and actor Rob Lowe both left at the end of the fourth season. The fifth season, to me at least, is a strong prelude to the big changes that many of the lead characters go through in the seasons that follow.

And while I always enjoy watching Allison Janney onscreen, I have to admit that Janel Moloney is starting to grow on me.

PARKS & RECREATION:  "Ron & Tammy"

One of the single greatest sitcom episodes I've seen in the past 10 years.  And every "Tammy" episode afterwards was pure gold.
