The discussion in another thread about Superman being perpetually 29 triggered a childhood flashback, and I remembered that my introduction to a lot of superheroes (especially Marvel superheroes) was through the Scholastic "Dynamite" Magazine in the early/mid 70s.  Each issue - at least the early ones - had a two-page origin reprint story and a Q&A page (what would be a FAQ today).

Although I already knew Superman and Batman, I distinctly recall that it was my first introduction to the FF and Iron Man.

Anyone else remember this?

I don't remember that about "Dynamite," specifically, but I do remember that there were two superheroes featured regularly in that series. I think they were two teen-aged heroes, on e a boy and the other a girl. It's been some time, so I am fuzzy on the details.

Dynamite gave me my first look at Ditko's first Spider-Man and Kirby's first Fantastic Four and Thor work!

I'm definately fuzzy on the details, but I know the strip was called "The Dynamite Duo" and they were brother and sister.  I'm pretty sure one of them had powers to affect an object's mass or weight, but I'm not sure which one had it and what their hero id's were.  I'm pretty sure I was in the 3rd grade when this ran.

Marc: they were Night Glider and Dawn Star and they both had gravity control powers, IIRC.

I don't remember the origin reprints mentioned by the original poster, but I sure remember the Dynamite Duo.  Drawn by Chic Stone.  I was reading the magazine circa 1976-79, that's when they appeared.

Jeanette Kahn was the original publisher of Dynamite, btw.  Of course by the late 70's she had moved on.

I remember seeing the Superman, Batman, and Dr. Strange issues.  Dr. Strange had a fight between him and Mordo but it was not Ditko's art.

I remember Smash magazine having two-page articles on Captain America and Thor in a couple of issues.

I just remembered that the Dynamite Duo had an occasional partner. A black guy named (shudder) Jive Turkey!

No, really...
