US

This one didn't work for me nearly as well as Peele's "Get Out."  I think he knows what scares us but I don't think he's quite learned how to scare us yet.  "Us" really feels more like something that would be a good episode of "Twilight Zone," as a feature movie, they tried to explain too much and as it got weirder and bigger, it didn't get scarier.

THE RUSSIAN FIVE

Documentary about the bringing together of 5 Russian hockey players to the Detroit Red Wings. I was surprised on how much I didn't know about these clandestine efforts.
Not a dry eye in the packed theater at the end.

Experiences aren't universal, I know, but I've been a lover of scary movies for pretty much all my life, and I've never seen one with an audience that screamed and otherwise viscerally reacted as much as the audience for "Us" did, yelling "No!" and so on.

BOOKSMART- Trailer looked funny and the billing as a
"female SUPERBAD" sold a ticket to me.
Entertaining...didn't like it as much as SUPERBAD.
Probably wouldn't watch it again but not upset about
paying to see it.

My wife and I went to see Rocketman on Tuesday.  I enjoyed it, though I'm not likely to seek out a second viewing of it.  Music is, of course, fantastic!

Might take my mother and sister to see ROCKETMAN.  Could be fun.

I saw GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS a couple weeks ago.
Liked it quite a bit. Very cool seeing the classic
monster enemies of Big G on the big screen with modern
special effects bringing them to life. After credit
scene worth sticking around for but not what I
expected...

Last night I drove to the Wexner in Columbus for a one
time showing of ROLLING THUNDER REVUE: A BOB DYLAN STORY
BY MARTIN SCORSESE. Wow. Blown away. Fantastic
documentary of the somewhat legendary Rolling Thunder
Revue tour of 1975. I've never seen Dylan so candid and
comfortable on camera. Great music, highly recommended.

ROCKETMAN. It was not as I thought it would be. At all. Which sucked, as I was really looking forward to it.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters. It kept me entertained all the way through and I walked away feeling good about the movie.
