LAWRENCE OF ARABIA last week in the one-night-only anniversary show from Fathom (crossed my fingers and was gifted with a flawless event). Absolutely revelatory. Sheer brilliance. Wish everyone could see it that way.

Taken 2.  A great popcorn movie.  Action, cute women, lots of explosions and an unbelievable plot, but wildly entertaining (just don't think too much).

Just got home from TAKEN 2.

The first Taken was my favorite action movie of the last several years, so I was expecting to be disappointed by the sequel. I was not!

No, it wasn't as good as the first, and the first twenty minutes or so were sluggish, but once it kicked in it was very very good.

While, as I said, not as good as the first, it was a competently made action thriller with Neeson doing a good job once again of raising what could have been a mediocre movie up a few notches. I hope they make a third one.

TAKEN 2. I loved the first one. This one was okay. Not upset that I saw it, but I doubt I would ever watch it again. There are worse ways to spend your day off.

Lawrence of Arabia = my favourite film. Would love to see it on a big screen in a darkened theatre.

Nothing is written...

SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS, not as funny as I thought it was going to be from the trailer, but I liked it a lot. Rockwell and Walken give great performances.

Roger Ebert had a nice review.

Saw the Led Zeppelin concert film CELEBRATION DAY in the theatre last night, reviewed it in the Music section of the forum.

Finally got around to seeing Looper.

Better than TimeCop! :)

But what was up with Joseph Gordon Levitt's eyebrows?

Saw TAKEN 2 last night. I enjoyed it much more than expected. I think the writers and director put some real thought into making this movie different enough from the first that there were surprises. I also really enjoy the European vibe (of 1 & 2) in that there are some moments that are great because they are kept small and don't turn the level of drama/comedy/suspense up to 11.
