DC: "Secret Six"...

Key: Mr. Element, the Cheetah, Air Wave, Ben Boxer, Ragman, and Wildcat

Marvel: "Defenders"...

Key: 3D Man, Man-Thing,  the Beetle, Thundra, the "new" Whizzer, and Box

EDIT: actually, the Marvel side should be "The Champions" more appropriately.

I read that the reasoning behind the Champions was that these were five heroes no one was doing anything with-- so why not team 'em up and see if they stick!

According to an interview I read with Tony Isabella, the Champions book was originally conceived as a buddy book featuring just Angel and Iceman.  Marvel's editor at the time (Isabella didn't name names, but it would have been either Wein or Wolfman) told him that every superhero team had to have a female character, a "really strong guy" and at least one character who had his own solo title.  Isabella thought it was silly to reduce things to a formula like that but he reluctantly complied, and that's how we got the Champions.

Ah! Interesting! While I agree that a good team book may need those
things, it would have been fun to have seen that buddy book.

Here's my team, who I don't think aere in regular use in a title-- this
team would be assembled by Dr. Yesterday via timetravel--

Not to answer for Paulo, but the character's name is Dusk (I got that from right-clicking as if to save the picture).

I also have a question: where do you get these images from?
