Fun suggestion for the original NOSFERATU:

The DVD version that I have features 2 different modern soundtracks added to the film... and they're both atrocious, to these ears.  So a few years back, after my wife had gone to sleep and I was up watching NOSFERATU sometime around midnight, I decided to hit the mute button, just to see what kind of affect it had...

I watched the entire movie with the sound off.  Watching it at midnight, with the lights out and the sound off, added an extremely eerie, dreamlike and hypnotic feel to the film.  I was transfixed the whole time.  I'd highly suggest giving it a try!

Ha!  I'll admit, while watching I thought more than a few times that MUTE would definitely be an improvement on the soundtrack!

Today was TV day. I'm just finishing Disc 1 of Band of Brothers. Won't get to more tonight, which means I have to watch(get to watch, really) 8 hours worth tomorrow. Once you start this program, you have you finish it; its the law.

And for those who are interested, the answer to the question:"why does tyler eat it but the Narrator survives?"

Spoiler Alert!: If you notice, the bullet passes through the left side of the Narrator's jaw but hits Tyler dead on. Why? Because Tyler Durdin...

...is just left of center! Metaphors rule!

Burning through 2 or 3 episodes of THE OUTER LIMITS for the past couple of nights. I love this show, and can honestly state that I never get tired of watching it.

Alternating with episodes of THE ADVENTURES OF BRISCO COUNTY JUNIOR.
RIP Lord Bowler.

Caught both "The Garage" and "Lightning Bug"--both movies about teenage
boys longing to leave home and strike out on their own.

Neither were very watchable, unfortunately.

MUNICH was really great, but with a melodramatic ending which felt out of left field a bit. Last one was Sleeping Beauty, which I like for tons of reasons. I think most will find it pretty dated, though.

If you haven't seen it, get Marathon Man! 'Is it safe?'

We watched Righteous Kill last night. It was ok, but I guessed the ending in the first 10 min.

We watched Bangcok Dangerous also and it was terrible. Nicolas Cage gave the most lifeless performance I have ever seen.

The last DVD I watched was Charlie Wilson's War, spurred by my recent viewings of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip episodes.  Sorkin's writing can be too on-target at times, but it still beats most others who never hit the mark at all.  I watched it with a friend who shook his head through most of the film at the notion that we were supposed to be rooting for the arming of Afganistan.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman was a great deal of fun to watch. That was a hell of a character.

Just watched Hellboy II - it had a few good lines, but overall, nothing special.

Twin Peaks, ep 15-19 (or thereabouts)....the conclusion of who killed Laura.

Part of me is amazed at the the mythology Lynch came up with almost on the fly.

I rented a Charles Bronson movie called Red Sun through the Comcast "On Demand" service over the weekend.  He's an old west train robber paired with a samurai bent on retreiving his master's sword.  I really enjoyed it.  Charles Bronson, before he started parodying himself in the Death Wish movies, was a hell of a good leading man "tough guy".  Good enough that I want to track down other gems of his.  Definitely recommended for western fans.

Watched HANCOCK over the weekend and found it to be quite enjoyable.  Not the mocking superhero comedy it was marketed as, thankfully.  Quite a pleasant surprise to see a superhero movie done so well, in fact.

I caught Wanted over the weekend.  It was a slick film. Defnitly a popcorn watcher. My fiance and I had a good time with it. Neat effects and all. Don't expect to use your brain while watching it, just go with the flow.

Hopefully tonight we will finally get to the Fountain.

You're never finished with Buffy for good.  She'll call you back.  Just wait.  A year.  Three years.  You'll watch them again.

Once Battlestar Galactica is done (in about ten or so weeks), I'm going to go through Buffy and Angel again myself.

Mmmmm... Season 2 Angelus... Aaahhhhh... Season 4 Spike....

That's some good stuff, right there.

Brad, be sure to have your tissues ready when Season 5 comes up. You know of what I speak. And before you get any funny ideas, I'm an incredibly manly man, so I only use one box for the entire season.

Yeah, beat that!

Last night we watched the Fountain.  My fiance was doing something on the laptop, and I ended up falling asleep. I understood the premise and what was going on. It looked beautiful. But it just didn't engage me.

It could also be that someone told me the premise of the movie before I saw it, so I didn't have that opportunity for self discovery. I may have appreciated it as much as others told me I would. Otherwise, I was glad for the nap.

Too Tough to Die.  It's the Ramones tribute concert before Johnny Ramone passed away.  Pretty good.  I like the Ramones but don't know the whole history of the band.

No kidding!  I am already toying with the idea of a "BEST OF" festival...
