All Star Superman looks great to me too, Simon. I've been waiting for that trade for quite sometime now since it's hard for me to track down back issues. I had read the first issue and loved it! Looking forward to the trade. I thought the first issue of Grant Morrison's Final Crisis was terrible, but it looks like he's in fine form on Superman.

IMO, (since the day I read DK2), I believe he is trying so hard to get DC and Marvel to fire him. But, instead, like a jilted lover, they keep throwing him more money, so he takes it.
---Joe Smith
It's worse than that, Joe. There is so much smirking cynicism at work here. Miller gladly takes the money ($1 million for DK2 if Entertainment Weekly is to be believed...who knows?) and laughs all the way to the bank knowin that the fanboys will PAY HIM to insult them for their tastes. At least that's what I took away from Dark Knight Strikes Again... and to a lesser extent, the Green Lantern issue of ASB&R.

I'm generally a fan of Jim Lee's artwork but the previous few issues of ASB&R have pretty much left me with no interest in reading any more of them. But, this thread made me curious as to what the hubbub was about. My first guess was that it was just overreaction by the press. But, off I went to Newsarama to check it out. What's the lead story on their site? Will Smith should play Captain America. <sigh> I didn't read the article so maybe it was a spoof but I just didn't have the energy. So I continued with what I was looking for and found a link to this page:
http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview2.php?image=li tg/2008/0910/ASBatPage1.jpg
Now, I'll buy just about anything with Batgirl and especially if she's drawn really well like in this example but that is simply too horrible to read. I really don't think that's a case of it just not being to my taste, it's literally horrible. Do they actually have editors at DC anymore? If DC actually thinks that that comic has any redeeming value then they need to just shut their doors and look back on fond memories. Total, utter, trash.

Miller long ago became part of the problem.

I recall that Mark suffers (as do I) from Crohn's Disease. He might have been having a bad day, alternating typing with rolling around on the floor in agony. That'd account for a storm of profanities! ;)

Are you referring to Mark Millar? Frank Miller writes ASBARTBW.

and retailers who are instructed to destroy their copies are left holding an ebay gold mine (check the listings)...I'm never buying a damn DC comic again.
----Craig Bogart
I don't think that part was premeditated by DC though. It doesn't benefit them in the least.

What are sales like on All-Star Batman now? It started out with something like 250,000 copies ordered (if I recall correctly). What has the inexcusably late schedule and crap-fest of a writing job done for sales? I would be really interested to see the numbers on each issue if anyone can track them down and post them.

I've already dropped this title myself. It just isn't Batman.

I've know about this for a while. And, based on the wailing and gnashing of
teeth that was going on up at the DC Offices when it was discovered, I can
assure you it was not deliberate.
Stupid and incompetent, yes. But not deliberate.

Oh b*ll*cks! Sorry about the error - blame it on the Crohn's :) I'll try in future not to comment about a comic I don't pay much attention to...
