I admit that my knowledge of specific events of early Marvel is kind of spotty. I've read the origins and many of the key events of the Marvel Universe gang. I recently picked up the first volume of the Fantastic Four black and white archives to refresh my memory of those early issues, and read the second issue.

The FF defeat and tie up four Skrulls. They go to the mothership and convince the leader not to invade by showing them panels of old monster comics. They return to earth and convince the authorities to come back with them to the apartment where they have captured their adversaries. They fight three Skrulls, whom Reed hypnotizes into thinking that they are cows.

I read the Kree/Skrull War which deals with their story. I've read the JB Annual about what happens when you drink Skrully cow milk. Can someone point me in the direction of the fourth Skrull? What happened to him? Was there ever a story about him? If his absence is an oversight, it's a pretty darn glaring one, donch'a think? Anyone? Beuller?

Huh. Must've missed him. But his absence between pages of FF # 2 is never addressed in a story, is it?

You mean how the FF failed to notice he was missing? No.

Actually, unless my memory's faulty (which it usually is), I think that this 4th skrull is one who left to become John the Skrull, took a liking to the humans and usually maintains a John Lennon look.

SPOILER TEXT:

The 4th Skrull became Senator Craddock and was killed in the K/S War.

Unless, of course, this was forgotten, in the same way my Skrull Milk story
was forgotten when ^^***** did the "Skrull Kill Crew".

Skrull Kill Krew was just awful. Worst thing Grant Morrison has ever written.

I seem to recall a line from Reed in FF#2 that seemed like a last minute dialog patch by Stan Lee to cover up the fact when he realized that a Skrull had gone missing. I don't have my copy of the FF Masterworks on me though. Can anyone check the issue again?

No such line in the original. Was it added in reprint form, perhaps?

I have both the first masterworks and the omnibus handy...
On page 23 of FF #2, fifth panel, after the police chief realizes that these were the Skrulls impersonating the FF, Reed says: "The fourth one is on his way to another galaxy now with the rest of his invasion fleet"
The line is in both the masterworks and the omnibus.
I don't have the original to check and see if it's there though.

Aren't the Omnibi the compiled versions of the Masterworks?
