I think I was getting comics by subscription when this ran so I didn't follow JB to Hulk.
This is my first exposure to the interior and the physical battle between Samson and Hulk
is excellent.
Not a criticism or complaint but one thing that stood out was the likeness of Doc Samson
to Clark Kent from the "Man of Steel" era as well as Betty to Lois. I don't know if this is
what JB meant about at one point having too few faces in his repertoire, a deliberate
design choice or simple coincidence. I still think the works looks good and Hulk is very
menacing, a bit more monstrous at times than what I was used to at that time.
Brian, that is from the Marvel Age Annual. I think it was the first one with the great Kerry
Gimmill/Tom Morgan wrap-around cover.
(Edited for weird formatting issue.)

because of the way things were publish in France at that time, I always thought John had jumped directly from Alpha Flight to Superman... I am discovering this..
What about the trade... anybody knows when it will be out?

I don't think I've ever seen that Marvel Age page before. A hidden JB Hulk page!

It was a great short run starting with this issue! It had such promise. I wish we could have seen where it would have ended up under JB. Felt bad for the artist that followed because there was no way his work wouldn't be overshadowed by John's...

oh, yeah, now I remember that Marvel Age page.
Wonder if it's going to wind up in the JB Hulk collection.

My guess would be, probably not. There was also a page in the Annual of the FF while they were taking on the Psycho-Man. That didn't make it into the FF volumes. Nor did the What If...? JB did.

The opening splash page of this issue is one of my favorite pictures of the Hulk. JB did a great job with Doc Samson, who is one of the best supporting characters in any series.

JB, how did it feel looking at the finished page of The Punch?
••
Exhausting!
I've mentioned that I sometimes find myself tensing and "posing" (without
actually leaving my chair) and even holding my breath when I draw. "Find
myself" being the key phrase, as I am not aware that I am doing it as I am
doing it. But I sure do remember finishing that page and sagging back in
my seat like someone had just dropped a ton of cement on me!

Guess that's better than feeling as if you'd been belted by a gamma-irradiated psychiatrist...
