Wonder Woman has been a favorite character of mine since I was in kindergarten because, during that time, there were reruns of the Lynda Carter series on television at the time.  I had a few Wonder Woman comicbooks while I was growing up but in my mind, Lynda Carter was (and still is) THE Wonder Woman.

About a year ago I picked up a Wonder Woman trade by JB (Bloodlines I believe, but I can't locate it at the moment), and was really excited about seeing his interpretation of the amazon.  Unfortunately, the whole thing just didn't jive for me.  Don't get me wrong, the art was excellent as always and the stories were fun, but my idea of Wonder Woman will probably always be tied to the old Lynda Carter series with Wonder Woman being more of a "secret agent" than a superhero.

I'm just curious if anyone else here has ever had the same problem with a character.

So far I've been enjoying the new Thor run and the Brubaker Cap and Iron Fist.  I have to admit though, they all seem like guilty pleasures because they have deviated so far from the originals.

Based on what is presently considered "right", I would say pretty much all
my favorite versions are the "wrong ones".

Well, that's kinda my point.  When I say "right" I mean the character as they were originally envisioned by the creator(s).  I have no doubt that your Wonder Woman was "right" in terms of her comicbook incarnation because you always play by the rules (which is what makes your work so much fun).  I haven't bought a comicbook in quite some time because of how bad I hear many of the characters I've grown to love have become.

Kyle Rayner is my favorite Green Lantern.
I prefer an intelligent Hulk.
My favorite Thor alter ego was Jake Olson.

And the Dan Jurgens issues of Sensational Spider-Man might have featured Ben Reilly, but they were actually pretty good.

So there's a green Hulk, a gray Hulk, and now a red Hulk. So now we need a blue Hulk, a yellow Hulk, an orange Hulk, and a purple Hulk. Now, if they do a purple Hulk, will they change his name to Krunk?

Perez, Byrne, and Jimenez were my favorites for Wonder Woman. I like the Greek mythology, mixed with modern times they pulled it off so well. Wonder Woman with a secret identity and being a secret agent seams to be against the purpose of her mission.

No but I prefer the real Peter Parker who disappeared years ago.

Quesada was right the character is unrecognizable now, maybe he's a skrull.
