Did someone here buy the two JK4W pages that show the Forever People's first glimpse of Valkyra and Vykin disturbing her meditation?

Swan pencils - $250 for both

JB's washes - $250 for both

I'd say it's a safe bet.

Hi Folks,

No DOA web-site update this evening, but I did post JB's nifty Cyclops illo on eBay:

Thanks to RM for the text-writing assist on that one!  :)

Thanks as well to the folks who chipped in with advice on how I can get the hyperlinks to work in my posts here!

All future emails to Jim will include something along the lines of, "Ryan Maxwell receives a 50% DOA discount in perpetuity..."

The downside of our little clubhouse here is that all this cameraderie
sometimes hits me in the wallet!! There have been occasions when people
have not bid on pieces, because they assume some other Forum member is
also bidding. "Oh, that's S0-and-so! I should let him have it!" So So-and-
so ends up with a piece for less than it would otherwise have gone for!

ebay now hides the names of bidders in   auctions, check the Colossus one, its impossible to tell who the bidders are http://cgi.ebay.com/JOHN-BYRNE-COLOSSUS-COMMISSION-X-MEN_W0Q QitemZ170167760405QQihZ007QQcategoryZ14010QQssPageNameZWDVWQ QrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The identity of a bidder has kept me out of auctions before actually, but not for the reason JB mentioned.  it was more  acase of, if he is bidding, I have no shot.

Why not bid though?  I know i'd be sour that i lost a piece on ebay, but not so much if it came to be that one of the forum actually won.  Reason i lost it is because i didn't bid correctly or it exceeded my price range, not because Gerry or Paul or etc. bid as well, especially on Jim Warden's auctions, when you know JB will see that revenue.

EBay can be a roller coaster ride.  Sometimes I think I have something, only to lose it at the last second.  That's happend to me many times.

Occasionally, there is a piece that I decide I need, like this one:

http://www.artofjohnbyrne.com/commissions-poses/images/2007- 08-30_144635_Doodle.jpg

Everyone of my forum buddies knew I wanted it.  That didn't stop anyone from bidding though!

If I want something bad enough, I don't care what names are in the bidding history, I'm going after it.  Sometimes I use the other bidders as motivation to be a little more aggressive.

Yeah -- I bid just to drive the price higher for Ari - knowing he wanted it so bad

hehehehehe

While I enjoy the comradery of folks on the board, I say every man for himself when it comes to bidding. I do know some folks on the board who would prefer not to bid against their friends. I never feel it is personal and the person who wants it more and can afford it should win.

I love you all as brothers and sister, unabashadly.
I will dance at your weddings and cry with you at funerals.

But that's not going to stop me from bidding what I can afford to pay. (If
only some of you didn't have more liquid cash than me . . .)

Nothing personal.
