Well, this IS a great place to relax and just talk comics...
I can't argue with that. I don't go anywhere else.

How bitter does one have to be to take the time to circulate that? Sad individual.

Y'know... looking at that flyer again, I just realized that it actually works to make fans aware of this forum, despite, I am sure, the true intentions behind printing the flyer.

Heck, wouldn't most people that saw such a flyer, and were actually compelled to actually look at it and read it, have to be JB fans to begin with? I mean, if I saw a flyer with a picture of a person I didn't like, I wouldn't bother to stop and read it at all.

You're forgetting, Matt, that in some quarters of fandom Byrne Bashing is a "first response". No matter what the subject, you'll find somebody eager to find a way to turn it into a snarky remark about me.

These people are apparently unaware of what Oscar Wilde said!

Hm... I'm starting to think that these Byrne bashers might also be called anti-fans. Armed with all the negative aspects fanaticism they swarm to attack objects of their inverted fan appreciation with venomous remarks (mostly lacking in subtlety and wit to an amazing degree). A sort of Negative Zone or anti-matter concept.
I wonder if these creatures are hovering around other individuals (whatever their artistic or entertainment area) to the same degree that JB seems to attract them. Guess even the dung flies know sugar when they see it... only for some reason they can't process the goodness (rabies and water comes to mind).

It's a pretty simple -- and simple-minded -- pathology, Joakim. The only thing Americans love more than a Rag-to-Riches story is Riches-to-Rags. And if those who have no hope of the former in their lives can in some way convince themselves they have contributed to the latter for someone else ---- well, it makes their pointless existance at least seem less pointless. To them, anyway.

I was thinking about that one but thought I'd seee if he said anything else that suited.

I thought the "good reputation" comment was funny.

Still, it is a very very sad use of energy at the end of the day. And I can't help thinking that if even half of that energy was spent on something more useful, it'd have so much potential in making the world a slightly better place (if nothing else for not having all that mediocre bashing around in the first place).

Very. Closer to home, perhaps, is this one from the
Bard:

Some rise by sin, while some by virtue fall.
