Not to state the obvious, but your Martian looks really alien. I say that because you've tweaked him just a bit and have not gone the route that many other artists have when drawing Jonn by simply adding the "big brow" to make him so. Nice piece.

Quick Martian Manhunter question:

Is he like Superman in that his abilities are a result of his being a Martian on Earth or are his powers natural? In other words, all Martians -- even on Mars -- can do what he does?

How did David Ogden Stiers look as the Martian Manhunter in that JLA tv-pilot, anyway? I bought a pirated copy of it at a convention (Mea Culpa) but it wouldn't play properly on my VCR. (apparently my VCR has higher ethical standards than I do.)

It seems like such a "daring" casting choice that I can't wrap my mind around it. (the Guy playing him on Smallville, though, is a great choice based on his performance in that episode and other things I've seen him in .)

I've been reluctant to seek out another copy of the JLA-pilot (since some people who have seen it say they wish they hadn't) but I've always been curious about that specific casting. (unless it's something as mundane as him being stuck in human form for the duration of the pilot.)

Very cool. I also notice that the pose obscures what I feel is the weakest part of the Martian Manhunter's costume. Did the commissioner request that pose?
