This is a fantastic commission.... for the past few days I have been watching my new Justice League and Justice League Unlimited animated DVDs.  When I saw this commission, I got the same feeling that I got watching the cartoons.... a bittersweet nostalgia for comics & characters done "right"... those that I would consider the proper heirs to the characters I loved as a kid and teenager.  Sometimes I feel like I might just have to stop collecting and enjoy archives, masterworks, good toons, and action figures.

This commission looks like the cover to a future Generations Volume!

I love that picture, JB! I'd love to see you draw an issue or two or MORE of Green Lantern! And I think you should draw some The Brave and the Bold, too.

I love that illustration a lot. The Joker, especially.

And whoever mentioned a "John Byrne presents..."... that's a sweet idea I would love to see becoming more concrete.

John Byrne Presents... the DC Universe! , John Byrne Presents... the Marvel Universe!,
and John Byrne Presents... the Byrneverse! have been my top choices for new projects for a while now.

Very true, Wallace. It could be  John Byrne Presents Whatever He Feels Like Doing This Month...and it would be the best book on the stands.

Usually I am a Marvel-guy (yes, i know its silly, one reason why it is about to change) but recently I bought the first "The Brave and the Bold" because I really liked the previews of Perez art. This commission finaly convinced me that I could enjoy any series that will contain JBs art, no matter how few I care about the character before. Really hope I have the oportunity soon.
The impact of the gunshot alone looks great.

Regarding Gorilla Grodd (whom I know less than nothing about as a character, I must admit)... There is something special about JB drawing apes that just really gets to me, in a good way.

JB, out of curiousity did you ever draw the Red Ghost and his Super-Apes?
Otherwise that'd be a nice image methinks.
