We had a hardcore group talking about wrestling at onetime here at the JBF.

I got really into wrestling again around the time Hogan and Austin returned and Goldberg signed up in the WWE.  Lasted about 2 years (the video game WWE: Shut Your Mouth certainly helped fire my enthusiasm).  Things got lame for a while, I had two kids and haven't been back since.

Never really was able to get into any of the other companies...WWE is my brand.  I've been watching this thread but just can't keep up with the knowledge you guys have!

Just take it slow, Brad.  Whatever you bring to the table is cool with me.

Hogan Knows Best*

****

Paul, I didn't know Hogan brought The Giant into pro wrestling.  So the whole contract thing with Vince was fantasy for the show?  Weird universe called "Entertainment"

No, the contract thing with Vince wasn't a fantasy for the show. Hogan ended up not signing the contract, even though the episode of Hogan Knows Best made it seem like he did. Either that, or the contract doesn't make him WWE exclusive. But if I remember right, he said on the Bubba the Love Sponge's radio show that he didn't sign it.

Btw, anyone hear about TNA's Lockdown PPV? Something awesome happened in the main event:

Scott Steiner used a Frankensteiner on Rhino!!!

(First time he's used that move in about 8 or 9 years)

There's a clip of it up on youtube.

The whole contract thing was done just for the show. At the time Vince was happy with Hogan and had all intentions of using him for Wrestlemania's and other special events. (But the 20 year thing would have been a likeness contract for merchandise) But Hogan was drunk on the Bubba show shooting his mouth off that he could get information on this years Hall of Fame before it was given to the actual wrestlers being inducted. He called Vince's secretary live on the air. Didn't tell her she was on the radio and had her give out the names of those being considered for induction this year. Vince got wind of it, dropped Hogan from his Mania involvement. (He, instead of Kane, was supposed to fight The Great Khali) Bubba had to apologize plus remove that segment from his replay. Vince called Austin, made nice with him and did the Donald Trump angle to replace not having Hogan on the card.

From what I understand, the match at Wrestlemania may have been Hogan vs. Shane McMahon, with Khali acting as Shane's bodyguard\enforcer and interfering in the match, only to get slammed by Hogan. Vince wanted to sort of re-create Hogan slamming Andre at WM 3, and actually had enough sense to know a straightforward Hogan vs. Khali match would have sucked.

Oddly enough, the original plan that was rumored was.....Hogan vs. Big Show!

Just another Hulk Hogan/Bubba The Love Sponge update. Hogan called into yesterday's show and claimed he would be smoking some weed in honor of it being 4-20. Bubba has also announced he will be wrestling on the Memphis show Hogan is running. Say your prayers and smoke your weed Hulkamaniacs.

For those of you with Sirius satelite radio. The Hogan/Wight card will be simulcast live on channel 101. Friday the 27th at 9 PM. This is the same channel Bubba is on.

The reason they're simulcasting it is because Bubba is scheduled to be at the show, participating in a match. This is the card last I saw it posted, so if things are different, don't blame me:

*Hogan vs. Paul Wight
*Brutus Beefcake & Bubba the Love Sponge vs. The Assassins managed by Sal Corrente
*Buff Bagwell vs. Brian Christopher
*Abdullah the Butcher vs. Al Greene
*Koko Ware & Kid Cash # vs. Bill Dundee & Dutch Mantell managed by Jimmy Valiant
*Barbarian vs. Moondog Cujo
*Greg Valentine vs. Mr. Hughes
*Ricky Morton & ? vs. 2 Cool II (Tim Grind and Flex)
*Jazz vs. Christie Ricci vs. Miss Passion

# I assume that's supposed to be "Kid Kash" and was misspelled.

If I remember right, it was a `supercard' for Jerry Lawler's fed, Memphis Championship Wrestling.

I'm on the other side of the state, in Knoxville, or I might have gone.

Sorry for the misinformation about the Sirius simulcast. I went to listen Friday night and it wasn't on. I guess Hogan was (once again) talking out the side of his mouth.

Anyway the whole card was put together so Hogan could have footage to air of him wrestling on the next season of Hogan Knows Best. Sounds like they had around 6,000 people in the 18,000 seat arena. Since Hogan was paying to run this show, I doubt we will get accurate paid attendance figure.

RICHARD, I'M GLAD TO SEE YOU'RE BACK!!!

I so want to rally the old guards of this beloved sport but to the way it was two years ago.  Talking about wrestling was fun and then for some reason it was closed and then a new thread was openned and it never shined.  I hope we can some how do what we did best before?

Have you seen my avatar?

It's just too...

For those of you that have heard me mention Ring of Honor, you know I think highly of the quality of wrestling they have. Well the company has just signed a deal to offer bi-monthly pre-taped PPVs. The cost should be around 10-15 bucks for a two hour program. Which is cheaper than the cost of one of their DVDs. It will be offered with InDemand and Dish Network. The company is slowly looking for a way to expand its audience without increassing its costs. This PPV deal will be of little risk to the company. They don't have to pay for live satelite feeds and they don't pay a fee for the PPVs to air. I recommend those who can buy one and see some of the best in-ring performances that todays wrestling has to offer. The first PPV starts at the begining of July.

You can read more info at www.rohwrestling.com

Yeah, and as a result, TNA has pulled all their talent that was working Ring of Honor from any future RoH shows, which likely means RoH will be getting new tag champs, amongst other things.

I've only seen a handful of RoH matches, but I like what I've seen. (The Satoshi Kojima vs. Homicide match was pretty fun)

Brian, ROH has been working since early this year to phase out all TNA talent. They must have known a deal like this would cause them to lose their TNA guys. They gave Samoa Joe a farewell tour and Christopher Daniels "quit" doing a heel promo. The only remaining members they lost were Homicide and Austin Aries(Star). Two big hits to be sure. But I wouldn't be surprised to see Aries return soon. He has been under suspension with TNA and his contract expires at the end of the summer. Currently The Brisco Brothers are the tag champs and are under contract with ROH. ROH is really good at building new stars to replace those they lose to WWE and TNA. Colt Cabana was another member they recently lost to WWE. I have DirecTV so I can't get the PPV's. But I'm excited for the company.

Paul, from what I heard there was actual discussion of a plan involving Samoa Joe returning to Ring of Honor, but not on a regular basis.

As for the Briscoes, I forgot about them being the champions. Can't believe that, considering I remember reading about one of them almost killing themself with a diving move a while back.

So were The Ring Of Honor part of TNA and now they're branching off?

How is TNA so far?  Are the storylines still cheesy?
