In terms of production, I think the first song off Snakes and Arrows they've released, "Far Cry" has a very similar sound to "Test for Echo" -- almost like it could have come off that album.

Anybody else think that?

Bill - didn't recognize you with the new avatar. Glad to see someone else
agrees. I think that JB would find Peart to be something of a kindred spirit...

Posted by me in the drummers thread about a month ago:
--------
<< Neil Peart is the JB of drums in my opinion. >>

You know, I've long thought this, for several reasons:

1. They're both among the best at what they do, but both refuse
to admit it and will trot out long lists of others who they think "do
it better."

2. Both are continually trying to learn and hone their craft, and
are not happy with giving less than 100% on any project they
touch.

3. Neither suffers fools gladly.

4. Both are fiercely independent in their political and social
thinking.

5. Both toil away from the limelight, but command a rabid fan
following.

I've often considered recommending Neil's books and music to JB,
just to see what he thinks. Might be intetresting...
------------
Heck of an echo in this place!

Edit: One more. How many times have we heard from the casual
Rush fan, "their old stuff was better?"

Al,the new avatar is because i`m really in a `Life On Mars` mood at the moment. That may change by Saturday,as i`m hoping to get the new cd a little early due to pre-ordering it.Usually Monday releases(We get new cd`s Monday not Tuesday over here) are posted the end of the previous week so that in theory we get them on day of release,if the Royal Mail are on the ball we get them Saturday...fingers crossed!

P.S. Maybe someone should include 2112 in with the books?

P.P.S. I can add a 6th to Chris` list,Both are excellent wordsmith`s,which is really their respective secondary talent,Neil-Percussion,John-Art.

`Their old stuff was better`

Their old stuff was different, that is what a lot of fans can`t cope with, change! I`d rather have a band who change and evolve rather than a hundred who keep churning out variations of their classic album/s.

Played the album a couple of times on my mp3 player,so far i love The Larger Bowl, nice acoustic guitar and a very Thin Lizzy-esque solo,The Main Monkey Business has some subtle drumming background detail.I can`t wait to hear the 5.1 version of this album, nice open clear production this time around too.Bravest Face is a favourite too.Malignant Narcissism is great too, named i believe after Kim Jong -Il`s race from Team America(Mal-Nar)

I talked an old Army buddy of mine into seeing Rush with me on 1 September in Cincinnati, Oh. This'll be my first Rush concert! Better late than never, I suppose. Lawn seating, so I guess I'd better snag some lawn chairs and binoculars and perhaps bring my Camelbak. Wooo!

You know Bill, it really annoys me that you folks across the pond have got
your copies already...

I think a Pantoun is a type of sonnet, isn't it?

Now you've got me really curious as to what I'm going to hear tomorrow!
